I have to admit this “no theme” idea is one I should have adopted a long time ago. With no limitations imposed by going with a set theme, I am finding it much easier to play nothing but great songs (and great memories) that cover a wide spectrum of musical tastes.

Today we start with a folk ballad by Canada’s greatest songwriter, and end with a bombastic country song that became a crossover hit on the Billboard Country charts and the Hot 100. In between we have a stack of familiar pop and rock classics from the 60s and 70s, plus a country classic by one of the definitive crooners of the Nashville Sound era, and a #1 hit from the 50s by a then 15-year old singer!

The only thing these eleven songs have in common is
They. Are. Great.
