Throwback Thursday

I have to admit this “no theme” idea is one I should have adopted a long time ago. With no limitations imposed by going with a set theme, I am finding it much easier to play nothing but great songs (and great memories) that cover a wide spectrum of musical tastes.

Today we start with a folk ballad by Canada’s greatest songwriter, and end with a bombastic country song that became a crossover hit on the Billboard Country charts and the Hot 100. In between we have a stack of familiar pop and rock classics from the 60s and 70s, plus a country classic by one of the definitive crooners of the Nashville Sound era, and a #1 hit from the 50s by a then 15-year old singer!

The only thing these eleven songs have in common is
They. Are. Great.

Memories … That’s What We’re All About

You are smokin’ hot this morning, Fred! I can almost hear the wheels turning in your head!
I’m very happy I could bring back a special memory for your bride. 🥰

        It sure is, Pat!

  2. Nancy Lancour

This was awesome! I am loving the snow theme thing! What a great idea your random pics are absolutely the tops in my book. Gordon Lightfoot, wow such a talent! I loved all of the songs that you had on here today, But I think my favorite had to be Eddie Arnold. Gosh I could listen to him forever and ever, and my dad loved him when he was alive that was one of his favorite artist of all time. And he used to saying very loudly along with him whenever song came on the radio. This was great brought back lots of memories, all good ones! Ray, you’re the best! 🥰

      Thank you, Sandy 🥰
It’s memories like the one of your dad singing along with the great Mr. Arnold that makes doing this so special for me.
I am loving this new approach. It really frees me up!

  4. Mary Helen Hawthorne

Liked the way you arranged the slower and faster selections
Up & down is good for rhythm & the soul, kinda like life

      Thank you, Mary Helen. 🥰
There are times (many, in fact) you catch on to my thought process without me ever saying a word!

  5. Pat Conant

I agree with all of the above, especially Sandy & her dad. I had Eddy Arnold’s MY World album but lost it at college. He is definitely one of the best. Badonkadon(can’t spell it, say nothing about saying it 3 times) is a great feel-good song!

      Thank you, Pat. 🥰
So glad you enjoyed the medley and I think Trace Adkins closed it all out in style!
Eddy Arnold had a very special pianist on his song; Floyd Cramer, another legend.
Interesting Fact: When his wife of 66 years died, Eddy passed just two months later.

      1. Pat Conant

Thanks for the imfo, Ray. Floyd Cramer is certainly a legend. I have friends who were married for over 60 years, and died within 2 weeks of each other. Hearts can certainly break.

That is true love, Pat ❤

LOL Listened to Eddy Arnold a lot when I was a kid .. was one of my mom’s favorites at the time! I love the mix of different genres and decades as I love most music and all these are great!!!!

      Thanks, Penny 🥰
I am getting lot of positive reactions to the “no theme” plan, and some very nice comments about Eddy. Not only was he a great singer, he wa an even better human being.
Have a wonderful night and Sweet Dreams!
      XOXO
