Merry Christmas Medley
We have arrived at the final stop on our medleys of Christmas music. We start with two “traditional” Christmas classics before rolling into songs that reflect the real reason for the season.
Over the past month, I have tried to touch all the bases. I have played memories of Christmas novelty tunes, country Christmas songs, rock and roll Christmas favorites, and of course Christmas classics sung by iconic crooners.
I hope my efforts have, in some small way, helped to bridge the distance between us all. It was my intent to close that gap by playing memories from our past in order to remind you we have so many reasons to feel blessed.
Once a year (and sadly only once a year), the world stands still to celebrate the advent of a single life. In this final medley, the music is all about that birth and it concludes with not one, but two absolutely stunning performances.
For anyone wondering why Handel’s “Messiah” is included, it is true that the masterpiece was originally intended for Easter, but by the 1960s had been almost completely transformed into a Christmas event.
I sincerely hope the collection of medleys over the past few weeks has ignited the spirit of Christmas in your heart. I can’t thank you enough for your lovely comments. ❤
I am taking a break next week so I will take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy 2023!
