Today we’re taking a look at songs that were sitting at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 on October 13.

It is absolutely astounding how much music changed over the course of the 21 year period we’re covering … and before you think I have gone a little crazy with the first song, I must point out that the song was #1 in the U.S. for six weeks, in addition to reaching #1 in Australia and #2 in Britain!

And the final #1 on the list? That one is for Wendy Plante who, at the age of five, fell in love with it.

In between are eight songs that should all ring a bell. I hope the memories come at you in waves!
