On February 7, 1964, thousands of screaming girls met The Beatles when they arrived at JFK Airport in New York City. The group had reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 a week earlier with I Want To Hold Your Hand.

After listening to today’s medley, it might be easy to see why the “Fab Four” were such a hot commodity. I am not suggesting the songs included in the medley were “bad” songs – okay, some of them were – but the banality of the music on the Billboard Hot 100 was in such a sad state that every song in this medley was in the Top 20 fifty-eight years ago today.
