FROM THE ARCHIVES

If you love the Fabulous Fifties, this is the medley for you! Yes, it’s another trip inside the archives so get ready to party!
As an added bonus, you get to hear a DJ throughout today’s medley, but it’s not my voice you’ll be hearing this time. It’s the voice of John Dolan, a 1950s and 60s Canadian radio legend in places like CHED in Edmonton, Alberta, and CKEY and CHUM in Toronto.
In 2007, John appeared from out of nowhere to inform me that he loved Streamingoldies and even though he was retired from radio, he wanted to help me out any way he could.
For the next four years, John was a constant presence in my email folder, sending me an endless supply of jingles and liners. And it wasn’t just emails. During our many hours of talking on the telephone, I would listen to this marvelous gentleman share stories of what radio had been in the Fifties and Sixties.
And he did love the Fifties … with a passion! That is why today’s Fifties medley could only have one DJ taking you through all of it. John may have sadly passed away in 2011, but around here, he is β and always will be β the voice of the Fifties.

Good Day Ray, Ted & I enjoyed today’s 50’s medley & I am sure you had pleasant memories when you chose it. Thank you.
PS I thought your group TY yesterday was nice π
Thanks, kiddos π
I had very pleasant memories whenever I hear John’s voice. He was such a dear friend.
The group TY came about because I was too tired to thank everyone individually. π
I am very glad you enjoyed it! β€β€
These were some of my favorite 50βs songs. Wish you could have heard Killian and me trying to sing along!

I’ll bet it was perfect harmony! β€β€
This was awesome! All the 50 songs that I knew most of the words too. I sure do enjoy, singing along dance around the room while Iβm listening to these medleys. Some of these really struck a chord, I was pretty young and inexperienced and lyrics and songs really meant some thing back then. Thank you so much for sharing this again. Itβs always a pleasure! Take care, and get your rest. It is critical to keep that body in check. Love ya! π₯°
Thank you, Sandy β€οΈ
I’m so glad you enjoyed the music and the memories they brought back.
Keep a smile on that pretty face! π

Thanks, Fred β€οΈ John is the man who saved my site from going down. When I told him I was going to quit, He used that incredible voice to talk me out of it.
From your roots
What a memory
Thanks, Mary Helen. I’m happy you enjoyed it. β€οΈ
Ray, I totally enjoyed today’s selection of the 50’s and also your narrative of your dear friend John. His voice, as is yours, is so smooth and comforting to listen to. Hope all is well and you are taking care of yourself and your testing is going well for you. Have a great rest of your day and see you in the morning π
Thanks, Bruce. John’s voice was very calming, but he could when he chose to, come across with the power of God’s voice. Such a dear, dear man and I miss him so much. I am so glad you enjoyed the trip back to the 50s! β€
Same time, same place.
Catching up, one medley at a time. Such memories of a 6th grader on a friend’s sun porch, dancing with girlfriends to 45’s, and imagining what dancing with a boy might be like. Days of innocence and fun, why I love the 50’s music so much!
