A Very Tuneful Tuesday

Another day, another long set of memories.

Once again, we have a couple of songs that were released on this date, a death of a classic rock pianist on this date, the recording of a mega-hit to benefit the world (Africa specifically) … and a lot more!

Tuneful Tuesday was a good way to describe today’s medley. Ted & I thank you Ray for starting our morning with music. Maybe I’ll pull out my USA for Africa album πŸ™‚

Tremendous tuneful Tuesday! Where do I even begin everything on here was awesome. I think I have to say, my favorites of all, were the Dave Clark five, Simon & Garfunkel and the joint effort of We are the World! I actually saw a documentary that showed the formation the beginnings, the grouping, the getting along with each other, and it was about a good 60 minute that was the salvation of how this was made. It really was loaded up with artists, and the song has so very much meaning! All of the other artists that you played were great I love Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Joe Royal and of course, the Beatles always! This was great, and I do look forward to tomorrow. Take care of that voice! And remember the magic words – – you’re the best! πŸ₯°

Hard to believe it’s been forty years since that song was recorded. You’re right, it still does resonate!

I could listen to other medleys on other platforms but it’s your curation that makes these medleys, the backstories of artists and band cross positions and interesting factoids.
I think We Are the World was a music video, so it was fun to pick out the voices by ear

      Thanks, Mary Helen ❀
You mean there are other people doing this? I thought it was just me! Just kidding, just kidding. I have always tried to simulate what I did during my broadcast career. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t work quite as well. It takes an extraordinary amount of time, researching and confirming information, and at the age of almost 75, it does, from time to time, take a toll. But I will soldier on and I appreciate you sticking with me.

I can only imagine what it takes especially when you don’t feel tip top
Just wanted to applaud you for the dedication
Medleys with backstories could be occasional treats

Ray thank you for help making today a day of realizing just how lucky we are to enjoy πŸ˜‰ life and what it has to offer!! Early πŸŒ„ morning tee time turned into a frustrating round of golf! When I got home and grabbed an early afternoon coffee. I reflected on the great company that I played with, the amazing weather, the 6 miles of excerise I did, and to have the opportunity πŸ˜€ to sit and listen to a great selection of songs that you so brilliantly arranged…I have come to the conclusion that life is good and to enjoy it the best way that I can while I can do so!! Thaks again, your voice sounds so much better and I hope that you enjoy the rest of your day!! Until tomorrow!!!

Bruce, I envy you for having the opportunity to chase that little white ball around. How I miss playing golf! Whether you shoot low or high, you should embrace every round. Playing with good friends makes it all the more enjoyable! πŸ™‚
Life IS good, even mine in a much more restricted manner. It sure beats the alternative.
I am so glad you enjoyed the music.
Same place, same time tomorrow! ❀

Another great mix. Killian and I were running a little late yesterday, so he only got through the first half. He has the day off today, so I won’t be seeing him. We’ve got some catching up to do.
I listened to both of them while shoveling snow this morning. Great stuff to listen to while working.
So, Killian is inquisitive and it always starts out with, “Can I ask you a question?”. LOL!!!
Killian- “Papa, where are the boondocks?”
Papa- “Well, the boondocks are a remote place, a place away from a lot of people, like where I worked, out in the forest.”
Killian- “Is my fire-pit on the end of my trail in the woods in the boondocks?”
    Papa- “Yes it is!”

Killian- “What does My Charie Amour mean?”
Papa- “It’s french and I’m not sure…something about love?”
    Killian- “Look it up!”
So, Papa looked it up (and he didn’t have to grab an encyclopedia!).
Papa- “It means My darling love.”
Killian- So Stevie Wonder love her?”
    Papa- “Yes.”

I liked a lot of these. I guess the ones that jarred loose the most memories were:
“Time of the Season”, of course “Sounds of Silence”, “Stuck In the Middle With You” and Lynard Skynard’s “Sweet Home Alabama”.
I remember watching USA for Africa many times.
Thank you Ray! You always raise some very good questions for Killian and we love the music.
Can I ask you a question? What is your favorite thing to do that is not putting these memories together?

I absolutely LOVE those questions! It is so amazing that he listens closely enough to get curious. That is just beautiful! You two are quite a pair?
As for my favorite thing to do, other than medleys… It used to be broadcasting on the radio with Rose, and of course, I loved broadcasting football and basketball games. Sadly, those days are long gone and hard to find. Today, I do medleys and think a lot about the fight ahead of me (surgery scheduled for March 13). And I talk to God … a lot.
