Monday Wakeup Medley!

Time to shake off the cobwebs of a lazy weekend and get moving. It’s a brand new week!

We have two songs that reached Number One on this date (different years, naturally), songs that were either recorded or released on this date, songs from two artists who died on this date, a song from a legend who was a bigger star than you might know, a song to let people in Southern California know how we feel about them, a song for kitten lovers, and a lot more!

Somewhere in the middle of all this, I address the “Sixties Oldies” vs. “Classic Rock” formats and where we are going with it.

This was awesome on a Monday morning! I was thinking what a perfect mix. This was with so many variations in singing styles in melody, presentations, etc. gosh, you really know how to make everybody happy don’t you? Yes, from Sam, the sham, all the way down to Pete Seeger. I love your referencing to Pat Boone and his success in the industry, and who came into everyone’s homes, at just the right time in life. Love letters in the sand has always been one of my very favorites, and it doesn’t ever disappoint. Made me cry again and here I am way past the teenage years. I loved Elvis and always will! Thank you for the shout out on Tommy James, and yes, I did sing along still love that music it’s just mesmerizing. Otis Redding is another I love and Jeremiah was a bullfrog, it’s always a hit. This is been tremendous. I’m hoping that I can get caught up now and listen to some of the ones I missed last week, with my heating debacle. It’s running, but parts are on order, and can hardly wait to pay my thousand dollar bill! Your music is always secure for me just being able to escape for a short time, and go back! You’re the best, and don’t you ever forget that. You made this old girl pretty happy this morning! 🥰

      Thank you, Sandy! ❤
I had to, just HAD to mention you before the Tommy James song! He and you go together like peanut butter and jelly! I recall how much you loved Pat Boone. I’m so sorry the heating problem isn’t completely fixed yet. Tough time of year for this. Wrap yourself up in the music. Hopefully that will keep you cozy.

It was diverse, wasn’t it. It’s probably the only time you’ll hear me play Pete Seeger, but I thought it was appropriate. So glad you enjoyed it!

Just like Tommy James goes with Sandy, Three Dog Night and you are a natural fit, especially on Joy To The World! You sing as loud as you want! 🙂
I’m very, very glad the music helps you out.

Good 🌄 morning Ray! I am not quite sure if I look forward more to the morning coffee sitting on my lanai watching the sun come up or your selection of Oldies. However I do realize that it is pure joy and a pleasant treat to have both, and I have to thank you for that Ray. The Pat Boone song brought back some great memories while I was in college. In my dorm we had 2 lage rooms for 4 students in each with a large shared bathroom in between. But we all got along so well that we put together 4 bunkers in one room and utilize other for entertainment. When we would retire at 🌙 nite 😴 (after our studies/ha ha) we would put on our sleepy time music…with great artists Pat Boone, Perry Como, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, Jonny Mathis Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and the Fleetwoods to name a few. I do believe that I enjoy and appreciate them now much more than I did when I was young and foolish. Thank you for keeping those memories alive! Sorry for this being so long 😪!!! Ray continue to take care of yourself an enjoy your day. Until tomorrow when I’ll meet you at the same time and place😃

      Good morning, Bruce! ❤
Thank you for the wonderful compliments and for the memories you shared about college life. You know, I would love to put together a medley of those crooners you mentioned. I’m not too sure it would go over too well with listeners who want rock and roll oldies, but hey, I could certainly do it on a Sunday! Now that’s a hell of an idea!
I’ll see you tomorrow. Same place, same time. 🙂

More wonderful songs and memories. Killian sang along with me while we played Li’l Red Riding Hood”! He also picked up on and loved the suggestion of someone having a new kitten. We both love that Beatle’s song.
Personally, I took to “Cats in the Cradle”, Elvis’s “Heartbreak Hotel” and the “Peppermint Twist”. I never would have known who wrote and sang that one. My favorites, however, were “Crimson & Clover” and “Sit’n on the Dock of the Bay”. I remember those two very well.
A super beginning to the week!

      Thank you, guys! ❤❤
“Leave My Kitten Alone” was supposed to be on the “Beatles For Sale” album but was yanked at the last minute. Don’t know why because it was very good.
Jim, you share a fondness for a lot of the same songs Sandy Gaither enjoys. I think that’s kind of neat. And Killian, anyone who enjoys singing along with Sam the Sham is my kind of guy!
