The 12 Days: Day 12

Well, we made it and if you’re one of the few who came here today to hear more Christmas music, I don’t want to disappoint you but I probably will.

It’s Christmas Eve and I expect a lot of regular listeners have a lot of things to do today. With that in mind, I opted for something different instead of music. I didn’t think it made sense to spend a couple of hours putting together one final Christmas medley when I anticipated very few listeners. For the record, I don’t blame anyone for being a little too busy today.

Instead of music, I am presenting two classic radio broadcasts, both of them with Christmas Eve as a major part of the storyline.

The first is the 1947 Lux Radio Theater production of It’s A Wonderful Life, starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. It’s a 49-minute production, and yes, I deleted the commercials.

The second is a 1939 Campbell Playhouse production of A Christmas Carol, starring the immortal Lionel Barrymore as Scrooge and the equally immortal Orson Welles as the narrator. The play lasts 45 minutes, and again, it is commercial free.

I will be taking a few weeks off and will return on January 3. To each one of you, I wish you a safe, peaceful, and very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    Merry Christmas Ray
Saw a doc on Christmas songs and most of the beloved ones were written by Jews… fitting since Jesus was Hebrew!
Wishing you the best in the new year

These are classics for sure! Thank you for sharing a location where I will always be able to access them, so that I have a way to enjoy them without a tv set.
I really liked the “radio” way of having the “audience” applauding at the end of “It’s a Wonderful Life “.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, your family and friends! 🙏🎄😊🎄🙏

Get some much deserved rest and relaxation and Killian and I will “hear” you next year! ❤️🙏🙏❤️
