I know, I know, I know, you’re anxious for the Christmas music to begin full time. Well, we’re almost there. Today we’re looking back at three events that occurred on this date and then it will be six Christmas novelty songs.
I’m sorry but tomorrow will be devoted to Roy Orbison on the anniversary of his passing, and starting next Monday, it will be wall-to-wall Christmas music right up until Christmas Eve.

Nice selection of Christmas songs, love Santa Baby. Looking forward to the Christmas songs to help get me in the Christmas spirit, its always hard when your alone. Talke care my dear friend!
Thank you, Nancy ❤️ I know it must be hard, but I am so proud of the way you have dealt with the loss of Amy. Whenever I hear ‘Santa Baby’ from now on, I’ll think of you. ❤️
Oh, Chicago!! From that very first drumbeat, I’ve always loved this song. I was so entrance, listening to the song by the wings, which I honestly don’t recall hearing previously. But oh gosh, when those bagpipes kicked in! Wow! All of the rest of course I loved and especially getting into those novelty Christmas songs from Wayback when. Who could ever forget the chipmunks? I remember listening to this as a kid, and I remember my kids listening to it. All of the rest, of course so entertaining! And finishing off with Brenda Lee, oh my gosh! You outdid yourself on this one. Or maybe I’m turning into a kid again! Hey Ray, don’t ever forget – – you’re the best! ⛄️🎄❤️
Thank you, Sandy ❤️
I’m glad you enjoyed the mellow music leading into the novelty songs. Those bagpipes were extraordinary. If I was going to have a funeral when I’m gone, I would request Amazing Grace on bagpipes. I won’t be having a funeral, though. No Obituary, either. I came into the world quietly and that is how I intend to leave.
Who would’ve ever thought that the person who enjoys music and making noise as much as you do, would want to leave this world without a notice to anyone. I thought a lot about what’s to come down the road since it seems to be getting closer and closer the older I get. I really don’t want to be shown to anyone lying in a casket at some visiting hour, or a church service. I think I’m all for cremation. So I sort of agree with you. I just had to add that
It may surprise you to know I am actually a very quiet guy. When I was on the air during my radio days, I was a wisecracking loudmouth with a somewhat irreverent style. But off the air, I have always been introverted and really quite shy. The on air stuff was just an act and still is.
As for music, I NEVER listen to it. I once did but that was years ago. I don’t even listen to my medleys after I have finished working on them. I think that’s because it takes so long to create one. I still love it when people enjoy the stuff I do and I hope it gives them pleasure, but for me, I’d much rather sit back and watch an old movie or television show. ❤️
And yes, it will be a quiet cremation for me.
Well now, I am absolutely astonished that you never listen to music. Anyhow. I too am a shy introvert so that I do understand.
I think the fact that I have devoted the last 25 years to compiling music databases(for radio stations and this site) has something to do with not wanting to hear it in my free time.
Good morning Ray, thanks for easing us into the Christmas season. A little Gerry makes for a nice transition. Looking forward to tomorrow remembering Roy and that unique voice.
Thank you, Marty. Transitioning slowly into all Christmas music was my best option, I think. Staring it full-time this week would have made it too long. I’m very glad you enjoyed Gerry and I promise you tomorrow’s Roy medley will be pretty damn good!
How can you not like those Christmas songs!!made my day!! I am chair dancing with Nancy!! So let’s get out and deck the halls with holly!!
Love ya
Great response, Fred! It’s nice to know your Christmas spirit is alive and well! My best to your lovely bride!
Love ya both! ❤️❤️
Spectacular beginning and of course you had me at Gerry Rafferty!
Well, I’m glad you enjoyed the first 40% … LOL
I love this song by Chicago thanks very much Ray.
Best,
Janie
You are very welcome, Janie ❤️
I must say I have never heard the Wings song or the Rafferty one, loved the Foreigner one. As for the novelties, Jingle Bell Rock” and Brenda Lee are a couple of favorites. When I worked at Idlenot Dairy Bar, I used to play them on the juke box, along with The Little Drummer Boy. Good memories from that time.
Thank you, Pat ❤️
I’m glad you enjoyed the music and the Christmas memories!
12-6-2024 Almost cheated & started with Roy Orbison but Ted & I listened to the Thursday music 1st. Thank you for the music & memories 🙂
Thank you, Lee & Ted!
I hope the Thursday medley put smiles on your faces. 🙂 🙂
Stay Warm!
Well, Killian & I both agree that we are into the Christmas songs now. We built a Christmas chain today to count down the days until Christmas. He loves the Chipmunks, “Christmas Don’t Be Late” and I love Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby”! Don’t know why…Ha Ha Ha!
Thanks Jim & Killian.
Killian enjoying the Chipmunks doesn’t come as a big surprise, but Eartha Kitt’s song? Who would have guessed? ❤️
