Remembering Roy

Today is a very special day. I am going to remember the career of Roy Orbison, a man I have always maintained had the sweetest voice this side of heaven.

Orbison died after suffering a heart attack at the age of 52 on December 6, 1988. After being out of the limelight for almost two decades, he had rebounded, first as a 1987 inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, then as a member of The Traveling Wilburys, and was also planning a release for Mystery Girl, his comeback solo album.

I’m going to do start with one of his earliest recordings with his Texas-based band, The Teen Kings, then run through a dozen of his solo hits in chronological order from 1956 to 1989 before ending with his only Christmas recording – complete with a backstory – from 1963.

WOW – Good Morning Ray. What an awesome tribute to the great Mr. Orbison! I even had my wife listen this morning before she went off to work, she was even so kind to set up my phone to the speakers on the lanai so I could have my Morning 🌄 coffee and enjoy the medley. You know Ray, I 🤔 think that she loves me..HA HA!!! Sometimes you forget just how good some of these artists were and the awesome songs that they produced! Of course that shouldn’t come as a surprise 🙄 because I Sometimes forget what I did yesterday and there are times that I am not so sure what day it 🙃 is!! Tough getting old, but is is definitely better than the alternative.Sorry for this being so long, sometimes I just get carried away!!Ray enjoy the rest of the day and have yourself a great weekend 😀 I

      Good Morning, Bruce!
That was very kind of your wife to do that, and yes, I’m pretty sure she loves you! ❤️
I think it would be very sad if people forgot about Roy and the other greats. That’s why I am very proud to do what I do.
One more thing. Don’t ever apologize for “carrying on.”
      Have a super duper weekend!

One of the greatest, gone too soon! Who couldn’t love some of his greatest hits all rolled up into a memory medley? This is a topper. Only the Lonely —one of my favorites, and Crying Over You! Sweet Dreams Baby is another and loved In Dreams! Pretty Woman was always a quick memory as a hit in the movie! Oh my gosh, and what about Anything You Want! Thank you for the backstory on Pretty Paper! I had absolutely no idea, and have a whole new meaning to the song. This has been very melancholy for me this morning. I’ve always loved Roy Orbison, but he also passed away on the same day, December 6 as my dad, only two years later. I do remember on the second anniversary of my dad’s passing when I heard that Roy Orbison had passed, Thinking to myself, gosh, this will make dad happy! He loved him, loved his voice, and I can still hear him singing, crying over you! Thanks Ray, for always being the best!

I am truly sorry about the connection between Roy and your dad. ❤️
On a positive note, perhaps the two of them are singing together right now!

I never listened to Roy much when I was growing up. I recognize many of the songs, however.
    His voice is VERY smooth.
I now have an appreciation for his music thanks to you.
    Killian…not so much.
I listened three times. I guess I would have to say my 3 favorites were:
    “Pretty Woman”
    “Clueless Heart” &
    “Pretty Paper”

      Thanks, Jim ❤️
I can understand why Killian wouldn’t care a lot for Roy’s music. Some of it was very slow and that’s not what young boys go for.
Your song favorites were pretty darn good!

Thank you, Mary Helen. Roy had the ability to lift your heart up or break it, often in the same song.
      That voice, that magnificent voice.

Thank you, Ray, for this compilation of Orbison’s! Rick and I enjoyed listening to it. We’ve been a fan for years, with several albums of his and the Traveling Wilburys! The back story on Pretty Papers brings to mind a man in Italy, with a trophies fingers and toes, painting on the sidewalk. So sad how we all pass by with barely a thought to someone else’s tragic condition, striving to rise above their infirmity. Thanks again and have a blessed day! ❤️

So glad Rick and you enjoyed Roy’s medley.
I hear you when you talk about how unfortunate it is to have the suffering of others go unnoticed even as they endeavor to climb out of their misery.
      Have a wonderful weekend!
