Veterans Day Medley

I will begin by letting you know that I am fully aware of the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
I know for example that Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle.
Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices, but it also honors all of those who have served the country in war or peace – dead or alive.

And finally … some of the songs in this medley reference the fact that not all of the brave men and women who fought valiantly for this nation – especially those who fought in Vietnam and Afghanistan – received the gratitude of a thankful nation. It would be wrong to ignore that fact and pretend they were welcomed home as the heroes they most certainly were.

Respect and appreciation for vets is certainly always due.
While I agree that we have not done a good job of welcoming home vets since Vietnam, I believe it was partly because many were not committed to these wars
While we may not have been welcoming we never disrespected troops by calling them “suckers” and “losers” if they were captured or died
We never used Arlington for a photo op, We didn’t skip Dday commemoration because it was raining

I have a longstanding policy of not censoring or deleting comments as long as the language is “clean” but your comments on this day when a nation pauses to thank our veterans (and stay clear of politics) are so filled with contempt and hate, you came very close to being the first.
I could spend hours criticizing (politely, I will add) both sides of the political aisle, but I won’t do it on Veterans Day, nor will I use my site to talk politics. It is, in case you forgot, a music site.

Ray thank you for your great medley today! To pay tribute and to honor all those men and women who have served our country to help protect the freedom we have, many who take it for granted!! We should all lower our heads to pray and give thanks, freedom does not come free, it comes at a cost…so many paid the ultimate price, along with their family and friends!!! That price is when they didn’t come home, the demons they carried with them for those who did make it home. I have friends who I lost in Vietnam and I still have friends that I am losing today due to health problems from the chemical warfare. My thanks goes out to all that have served along and my upmost respect and gratitude. You service and sacrifice will never be forgotten!!!

What a great tribute you have paid to all of the men and women of the Armed Forces, who, elected to join uncle Sams forces, and to give their lives if necessary. All gave some, and some gave all. It is always a somber time for me, because my dad was in the Navy and had a story to tell. I really loved hearing Trace Adkins , and have always loved his voice, and, of course, George Jones made me cry like he always does. Every song that he ever sang had a message. But I especially loved Toby, Keith, and having gone to one of his concerts while in California, made me appreciate him even more. Thank you for this Ray. It was really great and I appreciate your taking the time away from your private time to put this up for us. You have certainly captured the true meaning! 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️

Thank you, Sandy ❤️ A day like this can never fully repay the debt we owe these men and women. It was my honor to pay a very small part in letting them know how much they all mean to me.

It is better to thank friends and family who served our country while they are living than to remember them in May when it’s too late.
      Love Ya!
