The Rocking Archives!

I dug deep in the archives for this one, originally posted in July 2022. It was look back at the 1970s, and while that decade had more than its fair share of ballads, pop hits, and yes, even disco, this one was all about the heavier side … and the 70s certainly had that.

Ten classic artists … Ten classic songs!

I realize it’s a little longer than what you prefer, but back in 2022, most of the medleys were this long. As an added bonus, I didn’t talk on this medley so there’s always that to be thankful for. 🙂

While I have your attention, don’t forget to send me FIVE requests for your favorite songs from the 1960s. I know you can do it, and it makes my job so much easier. I can’t play YOUR memories if you don’t tell me what they are!

I’m going to start playing those requests on Monday! ❤️

Memories … That’s What We’re All About

Good Morning Ray, Ted & I listened yesterday (5 songs!) so I told Ted he should choose some of his favorites while I checked my 45’s. When I came downstairs he had chosen 2 -Older Women by Ronnie McDowell (he was thinking of me) & On the Dark Side by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band (a favorite band that we’ve seen several time in person). But they are not 60’s songs 🙁 Ted was 19 when he graduated in 1973 so I started thinking about memories & life in the 60’s. My choices are: To Sir With Love by Lulu (great song, movie, book & actor Sidney Poitier. Do You Believe in Magic by the Lovin’ Spoonful (we believed, Ted & I have seen & met the guys since & they’re real nice. Even liked my leather jacket with purple fringe & old keep on truckin’ t-shirt.) Happy Together by the Turtles (it covers my 1st kiss, boyfriend & husband so it covers 3 different times in my life.) Hey Jude by the Beatles (it was written for a son & mine shares John Lennon’s birthday & our DJ loves the Beatles.) The Wanderer by Dion (this is a song that Ted sang in bands ‘cept he sang I got Rosa-Lee on my chest.) These 5 will have to do with the back stories. NOW, thank you for the music the last 2 days. 🙂

Thanks for showing us the way to a medley that really rocks
Noticed America in several of the titles, coincidence or planned?

      Thank you, Mary Helen ❤️
I’ll let you in on a little secret, but you MUST keep it to yourself …
There is very little coincidence 🙂

We liked so many of these! I think Killian’s favorite is Edwin Starr’s “War”..at least he moved the most with that song. I guess I would have to say I liked the Guess Who’s “American Woman” and Tom Petty’s “American Girl” the most.

For the 5 songs from the 60’s I decided to go with 5 songs that I heard at Woodstock in 1969. My attendance there had a very large impact on me. The memories of the crowds, the absolutely surprisingly good artists and music, and the great, as well as not so great (rain and a few long waits) that I experienced. I met so very many great people that I will never see again, but will never forget!

Country Joe McDonald’s “I Feel Like I’m Fixin’ To Die Rag”
Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “Judy Blue Eyes”
The Who’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It”
Joe Cocker’s “With A Little Help From My Friends”
    and last, but not least…
Jimi Hendrix’s version of “Star Spangled Banner”

We really love the Friday Medleys. Of course, I listen and love most all genres of music. It would get boring listening to just old rock songs.

    Thank you, Ray!
