Rock ‘n’ Roll Party!

Fridays usually means a rock and roll party and this week is no different … well, maybe a little. This party goes back to the true golden era, 1957-1962. There are no Beatles, no Beach Boys, no Rolling Stones, and most definitely, there is no psychedelic music.

Today we’re even bypassing most of the pioneers of the genre, so that means no Chuck Berry, no Little Richard, and no Buddy Holly.

Okay, so we did throw in one Elvis song (for Pat Conant), one Ritchie Valens (for Donna Tillson-Bass), a Ricky Nelson song (for Vicki Siliski), and a Jerry Lee Lewis tune because, well, you have to. It’s in the DJ manual!

And the rest? Well, they’re all certified “Golden Oldies” from a very, very special era!

Oh yeah, love me some real rock ‘n’ roll! This was so good, and I just loved every single song. I especially loved hearing, Freddy Cannon, and the Everly Brothers. I remember most of the songs I remember most of the words to the songs. So you know that I sang along oh, and I did try to do the twist Chubby Checker! This was fun and a great way to end the week. Have a terrific weekend, rest, relax, and get ready for another week to start all over again. You’re the best. 🥰

Thanks for taking us wayyyyyyy back to all those great tunes. Jojo make me play Whole Lotta Shakin Going on 3 times, she really liked dancing to that one. I tried to video her but it didn’t come out. Thanks and have a great weekend.

Thanks, Mary Helen. I had second thoughts about playing Crazy, since it didn’t seem to go with the overall upbeat approach, but I’m glad now that I did!
      Have a happy weekend!

Ray this was fantastic I am still singing along with Mr.Charles!! What I liked the most is having none of the big names on here!! Don’t get me wrong I like the Beatles and the other big names but once in a while I like what you did today!! As a matter of fact I was going to ask that you do exactly what you did today!! Having said that I would love to have you do it again!! As always loved it!!
    Love ya

I have to tell you, Fred, doing this medley was a lot of fun for me. Not using the usual suspects was such a nice change of pace. Thank you for the positive feedback!

Wow! Imagine my surprise, seeing and hearing my name! Sitting hear with a big smile on my face and blushing big time!

It is awesome, sometimes to get away from the the usual’s! I was couch dancing and toe tapping! I loved the Everly Brothers song! I hope you have a fantastic weekend! And as always, thank you for all that you do! You are the best!

I liked the Doo Wop songs, “Come On Little Angel” and “Bristol Stomp”. Guess I’m more of a Doo Wop guy than I thought.

Love “Whole lotta Shakin’ Going On” and “Donna” was a favorite.

I never heard the name Gene Pitney, but do remember the song…so I looked him up and liked several others that he did.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend and doon’t labor too much!

Thanks, Jim! I am very glad you discovered a fondness for Doo Wop and I am delighted you discovered Gene. He had a long string of hits!
As for laboring, I just finished the history lessons for Monday and Tuesday and put together a medley for Monday. Now I can watch college football this afternoon!
      Have a great weekend!

        College football…yes!
Washed outside windows listening to several of the Memory Medley’s.

Now for the aquarium cleaning. At least 2hours…then college football for me too! ❤️
