Good morning, Fred! It sounds like you’re feeling better each day! I think it’s great you’re tapping your toes but don’t drive the nurses crazy with your dance moves. Keep on doing what you’re doing, my brother!
      Love ya! ❤️

Elvis was amazing and his voice could touch your soul!! Lost way too soon!!! He opened the doors for so many in so many genres … and like Fred said – who knows how much more he would have done had he not died so young but he will always live on in his music!!!

Like most everyone, I knew exactly where I was and what I was doing when the news broke. Was getting ready for work at a dive truck stop in middle of nowhere western Nebraska!!

You rock my friend .. because of you and others like you … great music lives on!

    Have a wonderful day

I’m so glad you enjoyed this, Penny! ❤️ His shining star began to fade a little in the 60s when he was forced to make some rather forgettable movies with even more forgettable soundtracks. But following his 196 Comeback Special and a return to live concerts, he started to pick up some serious steam again. I think his version of An American Trilogy from the 70s is absolutely amazing.
But if I had to pick just one decade, it would be the 50s. To m, that’s when Elvis was really The King!
      XOXO

Oh my gosh, where do I Begin, I absolutely loved the 50s, of course, because they were the beginning of Elvis and I was barely a preteen/teenager thinking about what a great singer he was. There was some thing so very special about him and his delivery of songs. And then we move onto the 60s, and that’s when he began all of the love songs in his career and did such a good job of making teenage girls cry just from listening! But I guess I never really stopped to listen in the 70s when he made so many hits all over again from songs that had been sung by so many artists. Gosh, I was so mesmerized that I had to listen to it twice. I mean, the tears roll down my face when I heard him singing Dixie and then when he did My Way I really lost it. Not from sadness of the songs, but just to realize that he has such a long way to go in his career and he just did it his way. In more ways than one! Such a loss to all of us, music lovers, and I’m sure to his family, of course. It’s kind of interesting, but I still had hoped at some time to be able to see him live in concert. That never happened. But this was absolutely superb and so it is mixed with a bunch of sadness. I am still grateful that I was able to listen to all of his songs for practically my whole life and love them every single time I heard them. Thank you Ray! You’re the Best! 🎼❤️

Thanks, Sandy. Elvis was indeed a generational talent, and the fact that he was himself partially responsible for his own demise made his passing all the more sadder. He was misused and abused by Col. Parker, his reprehensible manager to the point where the man couldn’t see straight and turned to uppers and downers. And Lord, he was ripped off to the tune of millions by that man.
For me, it was always the 50s music that defined Elvis, although much of his 70s music held so much promise. I am so, so pleased to know you enjoyed it all!! ❤️

Wow! The 60’s is fabulous! I have always loved the song “Now or Never”! I will listen to the other two over the weekend. I want the time to really appreciate, what I am listening to. You really are amazing at this!

Finally had a few minutes to myself and listened to the 50’s and 60’s which are my favorites. Hope to get back to listening every day. Thanks for all of this, Ray.

We had a great time, even though no winners. Great spending time with family including grandson & 2 of his friends. Now back to reality and getting sister into a home with care for her dementia. Praying that things work out. Music helps sooth the stress.

        1. Ray (Post author)

I will add you and your sister to my prayer list. God be with you. ❤️

            Thanks, Ray.

8-17-24 Hi Ray, I did the all in one today while Ted was at the For Luv of the Dogs Car Show here in town. It’s a fundraiser for the Humane Society. I worked on a letter which still isn’t finished. Have a good weekend 🙂 Lee

Thank you, Lee, I hope you enjoyed it!

It took me a few days b/c as you know I am not a big fan, but I was determined to try to see the allure. I listened to each decade to compare styles etc I liked the 60s best, felt the 70s were primarily covers and gospel, well I can see from his original start why he was such a sensation.
As always thank you teacher and music maestro for another great lesson

    1. Ray (Post author)

I am very proud of you, Mary Helen, for seeing this task through to completion! I know you’re not a big fan, but I’m glad you were able to appreciate, if only a little, his impact.
