Through The Years!

Today’s medley starts out with a truly iconic song from 1957 and doesn’t stop until we get to a mesmerizing #1 hit from 1969!

I know some of you really enjoy music from the 70s (and so do I), but my goal this week has been to focus primarily on the 60s, with an occasional foray into the 1950s. I don’t want to beat the “60s music lovers are dead” comment from earlier this week into the ground, but I am trying to prove the point that this music never grows old.

Elvis lovers and even those who didn’t enjoy his music are reminded that tomorrow is the 47th anniversary of his passing. I will do the same thing I do every August 16 and play the Elvis Medley(s); three separate collections of his music from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, or, if you prefer, you can play the entire 45-song collection as one two hour medley! That remains the most popular medley ever posted on this site.

Ted & I listened & enjoyed the music this morning, thanks Ray. My sister from CT & her family are arriving today at time unknown & have booked a room nearby through Sat. Have no idea what’s happening other than that but it’ll be good to see them. Elvis may be listened to by the decades this year. Have a good weekend 🙂

Thank you, Lee & Ted! I hope your visit from your sister is enjoyable. As for Elvis, if I’m choosing a decade to listen to, it would be the 50s
      Have a great weekend! 🥰🥰

Wow! This medley was jampacked full of all the songs that I sang along with. I haven’t forgotten too many of the words. I loved hearing Roy Orbison with pretty woman, and who in the world could love Aretha Franklin.RESPECT! I loved it all, from Chuck Berry to my all time favorite Tommy James and Crimson and Clover. I had to play that twice, so happy to hear that song. Thank you for the shout out! I definitely need to listen to this later on again. I always feel a little sad when the medley is done. But I am assured that there will be another one coming along. I do look forward to Elvis and his medley, and in fact, just strangely last night, I watched a movie that he was in on fox nation streaming service. He was young and in his prime and very buff, and I was like gosh didn’t we all used to look like that young and buff! OK, I’m rambling, but I loved it. I guess you can tell that, and don’t forget “you are the best” 🥰

Thanks, Sandy! I had to put YOUR song on as the finale! I am very happy you enjoyed the songs and I hope you enjoy both Mr. Presleys, the young and the older, tomorrow! 🥰

I loved all of these! A couple of sing-a-longs.
I remember once, when a band was forming in Springfield, they were looking for a lead singer. They asked me to try out, well…I found out then, that I wasn’t good enough. They even gave me hints on things I could change…but to no avail! Ha! Ha!

    1. Ray (Post author)

The important thing is this, Jim. You didn’t get asked to be the lead singer in a band, but all these years later, you’re STILL singing! 🥰

Ray you would think being in ICU that I could hit play and just enjoy!! Well 3/4 hours later I got to heat them all!! Thank you for playing one of my favorites I remember when we would practice in my garage at home and
the neighborhood kids would come over and let us know how we were doing!! I had to remember to keep that song on the clean side!! I want to say this to all you can never out play any song of any year because the memories that came back into my heart made me laugh and tear up!!
And don’t you ever stop telling us about these songs!! Your voice makes this site what it is!! Will be here for a couple more nights I am sore but that is part of the process!! I loved every minute of today’s songs!! So great to hear YOUR VOICE LOVE YOU!!
