St. Patrick’s Day Medley!

“May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks. May your heart be as light as a song. May each day bring you bright, happy hours that stay with you all the year long.”

Here is a collection of Irish music, ranging from traditional drinking songs to tender and revered ballads, because today really is about celebrating the heritage and culture of the Irish.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

    OMG!!! Great choices of Irish songs. I am actually come from an Irish background on my Mom’s side. So, even tho my married name is Siliski, Slade/Prouty is where I came from. These songs bring back some great memories. Thank you, Ray. πŸ€πŸŽΌπŸ€πŸŽΌπŸ€πŸŽΌπŸ€πŸŽΌπŸ€πŸŽΌ

    Nice mix, Ray. Certainly included most of everyone’s favorites. The full content of Danny Boy was wasted on me until I became an adult and fully realized the true emotion the words evoke. As I dug deeper into my Irish heritage and understood the tears in the eyes of my elders.
    Have you ever heard of a group out of New York, BLACK 47? I came across them years ago and their work really struck a chord in me. They sing of the history and heartbreak of the Irish people In a very different way than say The Chieftains. I love everything they ever did. Sadly they mostly disbanded a few years ago. I think they are worth a listen. Ray, thank you for this special edition and for honoring the Irish on this special day.

      I’m glad you enjoyed the medley. I haven’t heard Black 47, but it will be one of the things I do on my 2-week vacation!
