Monday Musical History!

It’s time for another Monday Musical History Lesson. Included in today’s were the releases of three hit records on this date (and for two of them, the groups had no part in playing on them), the date a single shot to the top of the Billboard chart (and you get to hear the inspiration for it), the date a long-splintered group won a Grammy, and we celebrate the birthdays of two iconic rock and roll Hall of Famers.

It all starts with a Beach Boys song which has absolutely nothing to with February 26 – and therefore no place in this history lesson – but I like it. 🙂

Good Morning Ray, Nice musical history listening lesson. Glad you also included a song just because you liked it 🙂
Enjoy your Monday. Lee & Ted

Lee & Ted, thank you for the lovely comment. Yeah, every once in a while, I play one for me. 🙂
      Have a great day!

A very unusual and eclectic medley!
Two of my not faves: These Boots Are Made for Walking(even w/ the interesting intro) and a Boy Named Sue. Quirky
    Keep em comin

Thank you, Mary Helen. I did think of you when I included ‘Boots’. I’m not crazy about it either, but it was the same thing when I posted history lessons (does anyone remember them?). I don’t get to rule something out if it happens on a specific date.
As for ‘Sue,’ I could have taken the easy way out and played ‘I Walk The Line,’ but I have played that one to death and ‘Sue’ was his biggest hit in the latter part of his life.
Truth be told, there were several songs on today’s medley that make me cringe (‘Johnny Angel’ and ‘Cry Like A Baby’ in addition to ‘Boots’) but they were significant on this date, so…

I liked it too!!! Enjoyed them all. Also, I was crazy busy yesterday and while I listened I forgot to put a message, so thanks for both today and yesterdays great medleys. Have a wonderful week my friend. <3

This was so interesting! My favorites were Blueberry Hill, Young Girl, the Beetles (of course – and I loved learning about its release), and of course Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” as well as his very emotional version of the Beetles “In My Life”! WOW

Thank you, Jim. I am, as always, very glad you enjoyed it!
