Nancy has great taste in music. So does the individual that put today’s medley together. We thoroughly enjoyed this one. It is the only way to start a new day and week.

Good Morning Ray, Ted & I enjoyed Music Monday’s Medley. πŸ™‚ As usual, I over thought yesterday’s home work assignment as I didn’t want to put all the obvious like Elvis, Beatles, etc. I thought back to the 50’s, Sing along with Mitch, the Dinah Shore Show. Music influence by my Mother. Sixties was my generation of music but so many; needed to think which would I listen to now if I were playing my records, same problem so I passed. When I turned on my computer this morning your question was the 1st thing on my feed & the song “every body loves somebody some time” was playing in my head (50’s). The others chosen are a couple of favorites that I like to play still. I see you had the First Edition covered. I added KR to make it 70’s since I heard them in 1970 & BS was around in the 60’s but not as well known as now. Ted fixed breakfast before I had one fingered typed this so I read him what I had written & we discussed music over our oatmeal. I told him if I were going to pick a group for him it would have been the Bee Gees & he agreed. Then he told me that in the 70’s after he got his 1st car that he had an 8-track player on his seat & Rod Stewart’s tape with Maggie May on it that he played a lot. He also liked the music from the tv show “The Monkees.” Time for me to stop blathering & thank you for the memories & the music. Have a good day. πŸ™‚ Lee & Ted

Happy Birthday, Nancy! And thank you for the music choices. They are great!

Loved Journey’s “When the Lights Go Out”. We saw them about 7 years ago at “Bethel Woods Center for the Arts”…a really great venue, transformed “Woodstock” festival grounds. I’ve been back there since that crazy time in “69”. Lots of memories. Museum is tremendous with so many memories from that time.

Thank you, Ray, for keeping it alive!

      Thank you, Jim!
I have been back to Woodstock a couple of times; the 25th anniversary in 1994, and again in 1999 (but at the original site, not the disaster in Saugerties).
I’m very glad you enjoyed the medley!

      1. Jim

I have heard that the 1994 Saugerties event was not very good. Nothing will ever emulate what the true Woodstock did. How long has it been?…and still it is brought up? I am so glad that I can say that I was there. Even if it was a tough trip.

The original site is a trip worth going to. Museum is nice, but just a day-trip, then a person would want to move on. If someone is thinking of coming up from the south to see Canada or the Thousand Islands, it would make a great stop!

        1. Ray (Post author)

Jim, the event at Saugerties was a disaster, but Woodstock 99 in Rome, NY made Saugerties look like a fairy tale.
As for me, going back to the original site in 1994 for an “unofficial” reunion was a blast. Sitting in that field with a few thousand other people was heavenly. The huge crowds were at Saugerties but I drove by and decided immediately that I didn’t want to be involved. I drove back to the original site and slept under the stars in that field.
Anyone who loves music from the 60s and 70s owes it to themselves to take a trip “back to the garden” at least once in their lifetime.

          1. Jim

            Absolutely!

  9. Pat Conant

Great info and medley again today. I think I have mentioned before that I saw Dylan at Patrick Gym, UVM, sometime in the fall of “65. When he picked up his electric guitar, he got quite a few boos. (Not me, I loved it). Any how I had a big poster advertising the concert. Years later while moving, my husband threw it away, and years after that I saw an ad in the Burlington Free Press offering a $1000 for the poster. Needless to say husband received a lot of grief from me.LOL

Thanks, Pat πŸ₯° I’m glad you enjoyed the music, but a big OUCH! on that poster!

  10. Terry

    Great medley this AM!
My thoughts on groups…Temptations, Traffic, and Beatles. Thanks!!

      Thank you, Terry! πŸ₯°
I appreciate the input on the groups! πŸ™‚
