Classic 50s!

I’m going to come right out and say it. This is one of my all-time favorite medleys! I didn’t intend to get stuck in the 50s when I started creating it. I was going to throw a couple of songs from that decade into the mix, but I just couldn’t stop!

These guys were the building blocks of rock and roll. They are royalty in my book, and next Wednesday, there will be another journey back to that magical era!

At the end of this medley, you’ll hear me announce “tomorrow is going to be a rock and roll party from the 60s and 70s.” That was a goof on my part. The 60s and 70s party will be on Friday! Tomorrow is going to be an archived Sixties Revolution!

Good Morning Ray, Hope the weather didn’t get to bad there. It’s in the 40’s here & we still have power unlike those who live in the outskirts of town. Plus we got to enjoy today’s classic 50’s medley even a banned song. Thanks for this morning’s medley. Have a good day 🙂 Lee & Ted

      Thanks, Lee & Ted 🥰🥰
I’m very glad the storm had little impact on you. It is 41 at 6:55 with rain, but that will stop sometime around 9:00.Right now there is a lot of wet and very heavy snow on the ground, but no lost power!
Have a safe and wonderful day!

I danced fast, then slow and then fast again! I was very young when these songs came out, but my parents listened and they were still playing decades later. Oh, and I also had a great rumble!

It’s funny how there weren’t even any lyrics in “Rumble” and it was banned. And, didn’t the play, “West Side Story” come out in the 50’s?

    Another great Memories Medley!

      Thank you, Jim! 🥰
Banning ‘Rumble’ because the powers that be were concerned it would increase juvenile delinquency was ridiculous! Link Wray invented the power chord with that song.
‘West Side Story’ premiered on Broadway in 1957 and on film in 1961.

The music was so much simpler/purer then… authentic as last year’s word of the year
More songs in 30+ minutes due to shorter song length?
    Loved it

      Thank you, Mary Helen 🥰
You’re right, the music was much simpler back then.
And yes, the records were much shorter. 🙂

This is for sure one of my favorite medleys. So many memories of mine from age 10-13. I have a memory of writing in my diary that my 2 favorite movies were a double feature, Rumble On the Dock and Don’t Knock the Rock! If I’m not mistaken Rumble and Rock Around the Clock wer in those movies.

Thanks, Pat. I was hoping you would enjoy it. 🥰
I always love it when the medleys bring back such memories for you.

Murphy wanted to put his two cents in as well LOL
Stay safe up there. Heavy wet snow is no fun !!

      Thank you, Eileen 🥰
There will be another medley full of 50s tunes next Wednesday, and I hope Murphy enjoys that one, too! 🙂

Awesome selections, Ray! The decade that changed music. It was all about the melody hooks and a repetitive chorus that stuck in our heads. All of these songs share a masterful stroke of the craft by the creators of these smash hits. Wow!

Thank you, Pat. I am so glad you enjoyed it! If anyone understands the “art” of it all better than you, I would be shocked!

  8. Fred

Ray thank you for this line up!! I have agreed with you since day one this is where it started!! These are the best of the best!! I pray that we don’t lose this music!! Some people I hear on some shows I haven’t heard of and I don’t see why they are popular and I am not sure what to call it!! Enough of that!!!we have grown up with the best music and if that’s all I ever hear I will be a happy man!! Stay warm and safe!!
    Love ya

      Thank you, Fred!🥰
This was music royalty and I will not allow any of them to slip into the darkness.
Every Wednesday is going to be the 50s and nothing but the best of the 50s!
      Love ya!
