12 Days of Christmas, Day 12

Well, we made it and if you’re one of the few who came here today to hear more Christmas music, I don’t want to disappoint you but I probably will.

It’s Christmas Eve and I expect a lot of regular listeners have a lot of things to today. With that in mind, I opted for something different instead of music. I didn’t think it made sense to spend a couple of hours putting together one final Christmas medley when I anticipated very few listeners. For the record, I don’t blame anyone for being a little too busy today.

Instead of music, I am presenting two classic radio broadcasts, both of them with Christmas Eve as a major part of the storyline.

The first is the 1947 Lux Radio Theater production of It’s A Wonderful Life, starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. It’s a 49-minute production, and yes, I deleted the commercials.

The second is a 1939 Campbell Playhouse production of A Christmas Carol, starring the immortal Lionel Barrymore as Scrooge and the equally immortal Orson Welles as the narrator. The play lasts 45 minutes, and again, it is commercial free.

I will be taking a few days off and will return on December 28. To each one of you, I wish you a safe, peaceful, and very Merry Christmas!

When the sun goes down, I will be watching It’s a Wonderful Life. That will be the second time this season. I may do A Christmas Carol again. But for me it has to be the one with Reginal Owens and the Lockhart’s….it’s the one we watched when I was a child 🙂 Wishing you and yours a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! As always, thank you for all you do. ENJOY YOUR TIME OFF.

I also prefer the Reginal Owens version. It was the one my family watched every Christmas, too!

was wonderful listening to these broadcasts. I know many people watch the shows by same names, too bad they don’t pay attention to the meaning behind them and try to live up to the messages. But for all the stories, secret santas, and whatever else .. if any of these affect just one person then I believe they have accomplished their goal.

I waited until the end of the “12 days of Christmas” run to comment!! I absolutely loved it and listened to every one of them (sometimes more than once .. lol) To me, Christmas is about giving and you my friend do that in spades all year long!!! The joy and nostalgia you share with your history posts and music medleys put smiles on faces every single day. The medleys help many (like me) thru slumps and bumps in life. So as you celebrate Christmas and beyond, just picture the smiles on all the people you have touched over the years!!
Have a safe, warm and happy holiday my friend
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!
Love and hugs to you!! XXOO

I’m not sure I’m worthy of all of your praise, but I will humbly and gratefully accept it.
You are a gem, a woman who means so much to me.
Have a safe, peaceful, and very Merry Christmas!
Love and hugs right back at you! ❤️
      XOXO
