The 12 Days, Day 3

Friday is the day usually reserved for Rock and Roll so let’s keep it simple. Instead of classic hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s, I’m playing Christmas songs with an attitude!

It’s a mix of rockers and country artists and none of them are keeping it quiet. If you have scanned the names of the musicians below, don’t be fooled into thinking Gene Autry will be singing one of his signature songs. It is a vintage B-side from 1950, the flip side to Frosty The Snowman.

Another name you may not recognize is the Texas Tornados. They were composed of some of country music’s biggest artists who modernized the Tex-Mex style.
Freddy Fender was a crossover success story around the world, with hits like Before the Next Teardrop Falls and Wasted Days and Wasted Nights.
Doug Sahm and Augie Meyers were both members of the 1960s pop-rock band the Sir Douglas Quintet, with hits such as She’s About A Mover and Mendocino to their credit.
Flaco Jiménez, the Conjunto accordion player, is known as the “Father of Conjunto Music.”

No, it’s not that important. I just thought you might like to know.

I’ll be back tomorrow with more rocking Country Christmas songs. Yeah, I know I don’t usually post medleys on a weekend, but how can I do the “12 Days of Christmas” medleys if I skip Saturday and Sunday? That would be cheating and just in case Santa is watching, I don’t want to get into trouble. 🙂

Good Morning Ray, Ted & I enjoyed day three. I have most all my cards done. I am thinking about leaving a holiday message in SHS Class of 68 as well. I don’t think the admin will mind, do you? Ted’s making more cookies this morning so the house smells good. I think a song might have influenced his decision but he did make cookies yesterday too. Ten more days ’til Christmas. One of my daughters friends (since grade school)is back in VT & I’ve invited her to join us. It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. We’ll tune in tomorrow. Have a good day & thanks Ray 🙂 Lee & Ted

Good Morning, Kids. I don’t think the Admin would mind at all! 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed the music and I suspect it was George Strait who inspired Ted! 🙂
      Have a wonderful day! 🥰

Some great Xmas songs. Most of which I am familiar with but would not have thought of listening to. Also, a new band to me…Old 97’s. I just had to research them. Some pretty good music.

And this is why I love what you do for us so much. You mix things up, teach us about the bands we loved and the bands that we hadn’t heard of. You also include songs from bands we know that we have never heard.

    Keep on truckin’!

Thank you, Jim! I’m pleased to know you don’t mind hearing Christmas songs that are new to you.
I love Old 97s. I came across them several years ago!
