All Females Part 4

It’s Tuesday and we turn our attention to Part Four of our All Female medleys, just before we start what I am calling the “12 Days of Christmas” medleys beginning tomorrow. That means nothing but Christmas songs through Christmas Eve.

I suspect a few of you will bail on that plan, and if you do, that’s alright. I won’t take it personally. I’ll just play them for people who want to hear them.

By the way, the first “song” tomorrow will be my 2005 recording of Santa’s Secret. I’m not mentioning that as an ego trip, but I know it has been very popular in the past so even if you want to skip the marathon of Christmas medleys, I want to give you a heads up so you won’t miss it. 🎅 🎄 🌟

Interesting song choices for some of the artists…TBH I just thought some were wrong… celebrate women, but with some of their better songs
    Ever the critic
I’ll probably get a hippo for this

Mary Helen, I don’t mind critics but to be honest, it would have been helpful if you had taken the time to list the “better” songs I should have played. Please feel free to tell me what YOU would have played. I really would love to know. To be honest again, on a personal note, I wouldn’t have played any songs by some of these artists if I was playing a medley of my favorite songs, but over the years, I have tried to keep my personal feelings out of the mix.
So again, please let me know which songs you would have thrown out and which songs you would have played instead. Without that list, your critique doesn’t amount to much.

In thinking about it I saw a pattern of choosing early hits, and thus probably not my choices for Madonna, Adele, Olivia Newton John, but Half Breed in this medley did not work for me
You’re being a great DJ and I’m being a jerk

The Madonna, Adele, and Cher songs were all requests. As I said earlier, if given my preference, I wouldn’t play any songs by Madonna or Cher, even if I had a gun to my head. But there were listeners who wanted to hear those particular songs. In Adele’s case, Rolling In The Deep topped the charts in twelve countries and was the biggest crossover hit in the United States since 1985. As for Olivia, I chose that song for one particular reason. It peaked at #3 and remained in the Top 40 for 12 weeks; On the country chart, the song reached #5, while on the adult contemporary chart, the song spent three weeks at #1. That is a crossover hit of epic proportion.
          Thank you for responding.
