1967 Hit Parade!

As a rule, many of the classic 1967 hit songs were on the, um, mellow side. Not all of them, to be sure, but when a tender ballad turns out to be the best-selling single of the year, that speaks volumes.

You’ll find plenty of the softer side in this 15-song, 43-minute medley, but fear not, there are songs that will have your tapping your toes and maybe even doing a chair dance!

GOOD Day Ray, Ted & I enjoyed your medley. I recognized 2 songs from movies I went to & you ended with the song that the DJ told me couldn’t be played on Sunday. It’s after 8am, can’t be late ’cause we have to paint & more. Didn’t work at the trailer yesterday so wrote more while Ted played taxi. The sun is shining & I have October lilacs outside & inside in a vase. “People look strange when they’re unwanted, women look wicked when you’re alone, when you’re strange” or something like that. Sorry, that popped in to my head when I mentioned the flowers. Thank you for the music, the memories & for being a friend. Have a sunny day. Lee & Ted

      Thanks, Lee and Ted 🥰🥰
It is amazing how much music (and the acceptance of some of it) has changed in the last 50 years. Songs that would never have been played on a Sunday, or any other day of the week, are now played with no hesitation. I’m happy both of you enjoyed the music and once again you provided such a lovely image with your comments!
      Have a wonderful day!

All of my thanks for these memories that you have afforded me this Tuesday morning. 14 years old and in love for the first time. She was also 14. I will never forget her, although we have never hooked up on social media. It would be so much fun to meet with her and talk about our early love and what all has transpired since then…

This medley is definitely a replay that I will listen to over and over.

    Good morning, Ray!
I agree with Jim! These 1967 songs were so evocative of the many and varied feelings that swirled in me as a junior in HS! So many memories! Thanks for bringing back those days!

      Thank you, Terry! 🥰
After I finish mixing these songs, I close my eyes and play it back. I can almost hear the sounds of the creaking floors at Park Street!

Gosh, another great year 1967, was the year that my second son was born. 3 1/2 years after the first one, I have forwarded myself a little bit of room to instill some self-sufficiency in that 3 1/2 year-old. These songs were all such great memories. I have to say that I was absolutely so surprised at Lulu‘s number one being the most widely purchased. Did not know that. I just loved all of this and I will certainly reserve it to listen to again. Thank you so much Ray I always feel so very hopeful when I listen to your music. Remember always, you’re the best. 🥰

      Thanks, Sandy! 🥰
I really do love the fact that these songs bring back so many memories for you. I’ll make you a deal. I’ll keep playing them if you keep listening! 🥰

Just fabulous! So many memories with this great collection. I spent that summer in Ogunquit, working for college funds. A free spirit, without parentals and some younger local kids to try to lead me astray! Lol! Can’t wait to hear tomorrow’s collection. Love ya, my Friend!

      Thanks, Bonnie! 🥰
You must have walked the Marginal Way a few times, while trying to stay out of trouble with those local kids. 😉
I’m very glad the music brought back some wonderful memories!
      Love ya right back!

Back to 1967, when I was a Junior in college, with a new roommate, as my 1st one quit in the middle of Sophomore year. (A good change as she was from Burlington and I got to go home with her, and to church on Sunday.) Anyhow, many memories- I too, remember 2 movies with these songs. “To Sir With Love” was a good movie, Georgie Girl I didn’t like. The songs were both good, however.

      Thanks, Pat🥰
I really enjoy reading your memories of college life. I truly do.
I agree with your assessment of the two films and songs.
