Good Morning Ray, Ted & both enjoyed todays music medley. 1965 was another great year for music. Made paying bills & transacting business better for the both of us. Thank you 🙂 Have a good day. Lee & Ted

      Thanks, kids!🥰
Hey, if I can make paying bills easier, I will proudly take a bow! I am so pleased you enjoyed the medley.
      Have a super day!

Without sounding Righteous but Rolling Stones and asking Jay And The Americans to start Rolling Stones to get the Beatles to feed the Byrds and getting Billy Joe to give up his Pacemaker just so the The Four Seasons will get to see Sony and Cher!! Poor Bob Dylan and Barry Maguire have no idea what a Simon or let alone what a Garfunkel is!! So now Roger Miller thinks that Gary Lewis and the Playboys are not related to Sam and now it’s going to take a lot of Lovin And I mean more than a spoonful to get out of this Sham!
    Love ya

We all listened to a lot of music when we were young…along with talking to friends on the phone behind a closed door, with the cord running underneath it. I wonder if this generation takes the time to listen to music as much as we did?

P.F. Sloan’s “Eve of Destruction” could be re-written today with just a few changes. Only he couldn’t re-write it, as he passed away in 2015. However, Barry McGuire could probably sing it as he still lives in California at the age of 87 and is still active!

    1. Ray (Post author)

Thanks, Jim! I don’t believe for one minute that this young generation ever takes the time to listen to lyrics. By the way, Barry did rewrite the lyrics in 2012.

Ah the Western world is in danger
We the People have become like strangers
Taking polls and opinions while the fabric decays
For the greed of the few how much the innocent pay
And the children are watching, if you hear how they pray
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend
You don’t believe we’re still on the eve of destruction?
Think of this green Earth, a tropical rainforest
And take a look around to the Sahara Desert
You wanna cut it down, burn it to the ground, leave barren and waste
Till there’s no room for living, animals, rivers and lakes
And there’s nothing to stop it but a miracle of faith
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend
You don’t believe we’re still on the eve of destruction?
I know you understand what we’re trying to say
Can’t you see the madness that’s led up to today?
We believe it’s time for a change, for a new golden age
Where the business of life runs in harmony with nature
For nature reflects the beauty within ourselves
And this changin’ attitude would ring out the Liberty Bells
For the hungry and the homeless and the helpless as well
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend
Sayin’ you don’t believe we’re still on the eve of destruction?
Ah you don’t believe we’re still on the eve of destruction?
At the source of silence, we’ll sing song of creation
Transcending the boundaries of our soul’s imagination
You can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation
‘Cause the truth is in love, freedom and cooperation
Let there be peace in your heart, that’s all right, that’s where it starts
Let there be peace tonight, in all the nations
For the music of life is in our laughter, liberation
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend
You don’t believe we’re still on the eve of destruction?
No, no, no you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction?

Is there a link to somewhere out there in la-la land where a person can hear this? If so, how about adding that to my requests?

  4. Mary Helen Hawthorne

You transported me to a sweeter, better time
    Thank you Mr dj

I think that there could be much better lyrics today.

  6. Pat Conant

Love going back in time for less stress and much better music. Thanks, Ray.

Thanks, Pat, and I am very happy having you along for the ride! 🥰

  7. Nancy Garbati

Loved them all. Jojo was upset that she had to wait till this afternoon, but I had appointments all morning. 🙂

    1. Ray (Post author)

Thanks, Nancy. It is so good to know Jojo has become such a big fan! 🥰

Loved the medley and also loved the era where we all lived in simpler times. Young people now are missing so much because of the electronic age 🙁 I played oldies when my kids were growing up, it may not be their choice of music but they appreciate it and I am now doing the same with my young grandson who has been listening to your medleys since he was a baby .. A lot of times he listens to the medleys with me when he is not in school!! Is hard to pick a favorite on this list .. could sing to just about every one of them … love king of the road .. lol Great way to end it with day dream … I tend to do that a lot.
Have a great evening my friend

      Thank you, Penny 🥰
You are giving your grandson a good example of what music should sound like and he will thank you down the road! I thought Daydream was a perfect way to end the medley!
      XOXO

Well, it is Thursday and I am finally getting around to play the 1965 hits, and this was a jampacked session if I ever heard one. So many songs that I sang with. It’s always fun when you listen to the things that bring back memories. I’m only gonna give you one in here. This was the year that I turned 21! Wow thought that I knew everything in the world. I took a part-time job at Pacific finance which was located kind of on the corner of Main right near V goes insurance company back then. The guy that I worked for whose name escapes me at the time used to go around the office singing sounds of silence all the time he about drove all of us nuts. I do remember that we’re going with him to do with a call Trace skips., In other words, people who didn’t pay their payments on time. We went to this place way out in the boonies. Can’t remember where it was, and, as we started to get out of the car, they started shooting at us. We get the hell out of there as fast as we could so that’s my story from back in 1965 among many others that are too numerous to mention this was so much fun. I loved it as always thank you so much Ray and you are the best! 🥰

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Sandy! 🥰
I remember where Pacific was. In the late 70s, I worked for AVCO and became the collection manager. I sure do remember skip tracing! It was always a challenge but it was fun (if you don’t count having a .38 stuck up my nose, having my tires slashed, and getting death threats!)
I am so glad you enjoyed the music and I hope you’re feeling better!

  10. Bonnie Adame Scriba

Hey, Ray, I’m playing catch up, and nope I don’t want to catch your cold! Take care of your self my friend.
This was an awesome mix. Turn Turn Turn, turned me to thoughts of my Mom, and how we sang this in church, with guitar accompaniment. Loved singing with her.
So many memories brought to life with “our” music! Great selection.
Here’s a few requests brought to mind…Little Red Rented Rowboat, Raina Rain Go Away, Little Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham, and how about I’d Like to Hear the World All Sing!
    Love ya!

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thank you, Bonnie 🥰
I’m very happy you enjoyed “our” music!
As soon as I am back to creating new medleys, I will get to work on your requests. 🙂
      Love ya!
