A Monday Medley!

Monday does not have to mean a miserable start to the week. Not if the music can put a smile on your face as you start your day!

Now to honest, there are a few sad footnotes in today’s medley. Those include the passing of two music legends on this date, including the pathetic, self-induced death of one of rock’s greatest drummers, and a singer with 27 charting songs to his credit.

But wait, there’s more! The backstory behind a classic Beatles song, a single that was a gold record before it was ever released, a request by listener Jim Waters (and where are yours?), and a lot more!

And we wrap it up with a tribute to three singers who have passed away in 2023. Those tributes will last all week.

It’s a beauty Monday morning here and made even better with that first cup of coffee and a new music medley. Have been anxiously awaiting to hear what songs have been requested and others from the ’55 to ’95 time period. Today was a good start to the week Ray.

Thanks, Marty! It’s been an overcast and cool start to the day here but it should warm up a bit as the day goes on. I’m glad you enjoyed the medley and I can tell you I have a pair of requests from Karen and you playing tomorrow! I’m getting more requests by the day and I’ll be playin them all!

Ray great start to the week!! Great choice Jim!! Waiting to see what Karen and Marty request!! I have no requests as I am wanting to see what my fellow listener’s have in mind!! I don’t have a problem but I knew you would help! I loved Vodka but not that much!! 67 was a busy year for me!! I hope you have a wonderful day!! And to all my friends out there have a rockin’ and blessed day!!
    Love ya!!

Thanks, Fred! Of course I would help! 😉 Bonham’s death was such a reckless and foolish mistake. No problem on the lack of requests. I have plenty coming up. Have a sensational day!
      Love ya!

What I look forward to are the music facts and backstories that enhance my listening experience.
As far as requests, I can stream any songs I want to hear, with you choosing or others requests it gets me to enjoy music I might never hear or listen to…

Very, very well said, Mary Helen. 🙂

Finally, up to date. Can’t say I liked the Beatles song, but enjoyed the rest. Still pondering what I would like to hear, but like to see what everyone else requests. (Great choice by Jim) Love the Billy Swan song, also, Andy Williams-haven’t heard him in a long time.

      Thanks, Pat!
I played the Beatles song because it was recorded on this date and I love historical stuff! Jim has a couple more requests coming up! Glad you enjoyed (most of) the medley!

6:06pm Still no comments but I did think about songs earlier this morning #1 1970’s Waylon Jennings I’ve Always Been Crazy (I would listen to his 8-track & it would put me in the mood to go out dancing) #2 !980’s Tracey Ullman They Don’t Know (saw my 45) & 1960’s Tommy Roe Heather Honey (Another 45). Your choice; jotted down a few others while looking at my records but I think you suggested 2 or 3 & thought these probably would be different. Hope you had a good day 🙂 Lee

Another great medley my friend, listened to it three times 🙂 …. my favorite is Peter McCann!
Is so sad the amount of great talent lost over the last few years, this year being no exception. The only good thing is their wonderful music will live on …….. I am sure they are all up there making wonderful music in the heavens above us!
Have a good rest of the night and I look forward to what you have in store for tomorrow!

      Thank you, Penny!
Wow, what a wonderful commentary! The McCann song was one of my favorites “back in the day!”
I have said this many times before, but thank you for being you! 🥰
      XOXO

I did love this one a lot and I’m sorry that I missed it on Monday as it was intended. All of the songs, the requests and particularly people who are no longer with us whose music we remember. I had completely forgotten the song that Peter McCann saying, do you wanna make love, or do you just wanna fool around? I loved it. It was a great song. I’m sure there are many more that you could pull out of the hat. Great great Monday, Ray! Thank you so much, and I am caught up through Friday. Yay! Have a great rest of the day. And remember, you’re the best. 🥰

Once again, Sandy, you have brightened my day! 🥰 I am a long way from being finished with songs by artists we have lost this year so hopefully I’ll come up with a few moe forgotten gems!
