Doo-Wop Wednesday!

Are you in the mood for Doo-Wop music?

It has been said that there were 15,000 Doo-Wop groups that recorded at least one record. While that might be an exaggeration, certainly a few thousand did. Many would spend a few years trying.

Several of the songs in today’s medley might be familiar, while others were some who fell into the category of groups who “tried.” That includes The Tokens, who, by the way, were not the same group that recorded The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Listeners with sharp eyes may see Lewis Lymon & The Teenchords on the list below and think of Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers (of Why Do Fools Fall In Love fame). Yep, Lewis was Frankie’s younger brother, and while he and his group never achieved the fame Frankie did, he avoided the drug problems (and fatal heroin overdose) his older brother did.

A lot of these I don’t remember, but there is something about Doo-Wop that makes me feel good. I guess it’s the memories of a much simpler time.

      Thanks, Pat 🥰
I think you’re right about why so many people love this genre. Life was very much simpler back then and it’s only natural to embrace those memories.

Ted & I enjoyed the Doo-Wop medley this Thursday tho didn’t recognize all. The sun came out shining brightly while they were playing. I think it approved. Thanks Ray 🙂 🙂 Lee & Ted

      Thanks, Lee and Ted 🥰🥰
One of the problems with doing weekly Doo-Wop medleys is it’s pretty easy to run out of songs that are recognized by listeners. I’m going to take a few weeks off from doing Doo-Wop songs.
