Classics For Wednesday!

Today’s medley is an example of what you get when you combine this date in history with timeless music.

There are a couple of #1 songs on this date, plus several songs that were either recorded or released on January 25. And of course there are other songs added to the mix just because they are classics!

It all adds up to a wonderful Wednesday! Whether it is “wickedly” wonderful is up to you. πŸ™‚

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald … One of my favorite story-telling songs!

I did a lot of sailing with my dad, then had a large fishing boat on the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario. Got caught in a few large storms that this song reminds me of. Pretty scary at times!

Love the tidbits of music history thrown in. Knowing a little about the timing of the songs helps me place myself when I might have been listening to them. Also, knowing a little about the artists behind them is an extra treat.

    Thank you again, Ray!

Ray what a great medley today!! I have a procedure today and this is just a perfect distraction! I agree with Jim knowing the dates and the history makes it so much more enjoyable!! Most of these songs we used to play back in the days of old!! 1967 we graduated from high school and I got married that year!! Wow long as I remember i I am still wondering who stopped the rain!! Nancy is singing along and I am chair dancin’!! While your scooting along we shall ask that you have a wonderful and peaceful day!! Who would name a band Procol Harum?? It was cats name!!
    Love ya

      Thanks, Fred!
Band names back then were often quite strange. Hmm, that might be a good idea for a medley (the strangest band names!)
I hope your procedure goes well. I’m saying some extra prayers for you. ❀
      Love ya!
