When The Hall Mattered

If you are a fan of early rock and roll pioneers, today’s medley was made for you!

This 40-minute mix actually starts a long way from rock and roll, but the song was recorded 61 years ago today and has since become iconic. That’s followed by a blistering guitar performance by a legend who tragically died 45 years ago today. Then we turn our attention to the 1997 passing of a man who has been forgotten by many but the song he wrote will never be forgotten.

And then we focus on eleven rock and roll icons who were the first inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on this date in 1986, back when the Hall of Fame actually stood for something! Without these men, I dare say I would not be sitting here typing this today.

I think I enjoyed this one because of who you featured!! Tong Bennett is one of the best in our life time!! And lesson learned never fool with a gun loaded or unloaded!! What I liked most was that when they first started the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame they inducted true Rock and Rollers!! We have talked about this before!! I don’t care for it anymore!!(what a guitar solo!! I love this version of Louie Louie!! Forgot about this one !! 1986 was a great year!! Now these performers where real Rock and Rollers!! And let’s never forget the girl with the red dress on! Talk about chair dancin’ I better check my heart rate!! I did find my thrill on Blueberry Hill!! What a fantastic start to anybody’s day!!
    Love ya!

Glad you enjoyed it, Mary Helen 🥰
Mumbling their way through Louie Louie ended up making the Kingsmen a lot of money!

Lots of memories through out this medley. Glad I got to go to the Hall of Fame after it 1st opened even tho I only saw the outside & the lobby displays then I got some nice pictures. I did go back several years ago & walked thru all the displays.
Great mix Ray. Ted’s gone out snow blowing now 🙂 🙂 Lee & Ted

Thank you, Lee and Ted 🥰🥰
I went to the Hall about 25 years ago. I was very impressed with it at the time, but after the way they have changed the mission of the place, I have no interest on going back.
Glad you enjoyed the medley. Rock The Day!

This was the best medley yet! I just love the intro and Tony Bennett with I left my heart in San Francisco! No one could sing like him, and no one will ever sang like him, as he is tops in my book! I loved all of the rest and I just think that the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame knew what they were doing back then when they inducted all of those people who songs made them famous. Not to be matched.by anyone. All of those artists are from my time, and I knew I still know all the words! This was fantastic Ray! What a great way to start the week! I can tell you that I was moving around a lot towards the end. As always Ray, you’re the best!🥰

      Thanks, Sandy! 🥰
I guess I hit a home run with you today! I had so much fun mixing this medley. Those songs were what rock and roll was, and still is, all about! I am so glad you enjoyed it!

Came up for air long enough to comment 🙂 You knocked it out of the park again .l.. great medley! Every one of those Hall of Famers deserved it!! Sadly there are many others that should be that aren’t .. Not sure how they pick and chose who gets in and who doesn’t nowadays.
    Gotta get back at it.
Have a wonderful day my friend

      Thanks, Penny 🥰
You’re right, they are still far too many deserving artists who haven’t been inducted. At this point, most of them won’t get the call.
      I hope you’re smiling! 🙂
      XOXO

Super, duper, today, Ray. I agree with Sandy-might be my favorite of late! Those were the days, many memories and I feel good!

      Thanks, Pat 🥰
This one was for anyone who grew up in the 50s and very early 60s. 🙂

“Terrific” is an understatement! What a great collection of memories to shovel heavy, wet snow with! Thank you for making the work almost seem enjoyable. My neighbor friend asked me what I was listening to. I had to brag a little about knowing you and getting these medleys from you daily. My driveway is very large, so I ended up playing them 3 times over and I loved them just as much the 3rd time as the first!

      Thanks, Jim!
I’m not sure knowing me is anything to brag about 🤣 but I do appreciate you saying so. I’m so glad I could make the shoveling experience a little more enjoyable. 🥰
