Halloween Medley!

If ever there was a day when a “theme” is needed, today is one of those days. It’s Halloween!

We’re starting out this annual scarefest with a couple of “safe” novelty songs before a rumbling voice (guess who?) issues a warning about entering a musical nightmare. And that’s exactly what it is. πŸŽƒ

By the way, if you think the Bloodrock song is a bit too morbid (possibly more than a bit), consider this: In March 1971, many U.S. radio stations banned it, but despite a lack of airplay, the single still reached #36 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Please Note! My grandson Dylan is arriving from Pittsburgh tomorrow for a weeklong visit. I’m taking the week off to spend as much time with him as possible. I will be back next Monday!

I know this is an anathema but I hate Halloween…prayed Crabby Appleton would steal this day off the calendar
That said I never heard and Bloodrock selection and I can see why it didn’t get much radio play
Nice ending with Thriller and had forgotten the great ending
Enjoy your time with Dylan…every minute counts these days

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Mary Helen πŸ₯°
I’m sorry this wasn’t your cup of tea but I promise I’ll be getting back to normal next Monday!

The Monster Mash. I was wondering if you were going to Pickett this song!! I never did call the Ghost Busters! I was more worried about the swamp!! Lot of rumors about that black bayou!! That laugh was a little disturbing!! I couldn’t Waits I wanted to see what the Talking Heads were saying!! I didn’t think you were ever in a Cult I thought Blue Oysters were something you ate!! Even the Who wanted to know what a Bloodrock is!! Great finish!! Say hi to Dylan and have a great time!! So happy for you!!
    Love ya

    1. Ray (Post author)

Thanks, Fred! Yeah, today was a little different than most days. It wasn’t quite the “musical nightmare” I threw in there, but it was not exactly fun songs designed to bring back pleasant memories. 🀣
Enjoy your break while I’m hanging with Dylan!
      Love Ya!

      1. Fred

Enjoy Dylan and I really am so happy for you!! Will you do anything special or just hang out?? Enjoy Ray life is so short a time flys by so fast!!

        1. Ray (Post author)

We’re pretty much just going to hang. He has a lot of people he wants to visit so he’s going to be busy! πŸ₯°

Recently read in a Woman’s World magazine that watching scary movies can build up your immunity! Growing up that wasn’t allowed but must admit Ted & I listened to today’s medley & have watched both Hocus Pocus movies for the 1st time this year. So Ray, thanks for contributing to the health of your listeners as well as supplying musical melodies 7 childhood memories. Remembering Trick or Treat for UNICEF & taking my pillowcase & brothers around Westview for goodies. It was there that the treat was a baggie of cereal for the next morning. Remembering this I picked up boxes of Twix Oatmeal packets while on vaca if anyone stops here. Last day of the long Halloween weekend & no one so far. It’s mostly Trunk or Treat or parties. Remember Liz Lovell inviting the class to a Halloween party at her house in 6th grade? In case anyone wonders the oatmeal will be used come Easter time during the treasure hunt for eggs & goodies, Happy Halloween (Candy goes on sale tomorrow) May tou & yours be blessed πŸ™‚

    1. Ray (Post author)

Lee, you handed out bundles of memories with these comments! πŸ₯°
I clearly remember collecting for UNICEF but I guess I wasn’t invited to Liz’s Halloween party πŸ™
No trick or treaters here tonight. I don’t think there has ever been more than 2 or 3 kids. That might be because I live in the last house at the end of a dead-end street with no street light!

    Have a fabulous visit, Ray!
I’ll get caught up on previously posted medleys!

I am really looking forward to Dylan’s visit. We have much more than a grandfather/grandson relationship. He is also one of my best friends!
      Enjoy the medley archives!
