It should be obvious by now that I have abandoned the idea of “themes” for these medleys, but if you haven’t figured that out by now, today’s medley will convince you.
We start out with a couple of songs on the quieter side, then switch to a horn-driven classic, followed by a country song that became a crossover pop hit.
Then comes a couple of iconic R&B tunes, a psychedelic memory, two songs from 1960’s Britain, a nonsensical novelty hit, an Elton John scorcher, a 1965 #1 hit, and it all ends with a classic from The Doors!
That’s 13 songs in 38 minutes … and as listener Mary Helen says, “there is something for everyone!”

Yes! Great Melody Mix! The blathering reminded me of listening to live radio without ads! Even felt like I could call in and talk to you. Keep it up Ray. Loved all of these songs!
Thanks, Jim 🥰
I want to thank you for encouraging me to “take it live” without the ads! Tomorrow’s medley is a long (44 minutes) rock and roll party (with even more blathering). 🙂
I can’t believe that was 1967!! I can’t imagine Frank saying anything stupid!! What no rain in California that is just silly!! I’m glad I am not in Chicago nowadays!! I bet Charlie Rich cares what time it is!! Thank you for the info on Charlie!! This really is a great story he tells!! Poor guy lost his head!! I like the info on the songs!! How can you not like a name like “Frogman””!! How about Blues Magoos!! Set me free brings back some strange memories!! Wow the-Red Baron !! Ok for me to say this was a Mindbender would be an understatement
It was the greatest music of all times!! And the purpose of the # one DJ is to love what you do for us!! So I’m going to keep my hands on the volume of my phone but I can’t roll all night long anymore
Love ya
Thank you, Fred!
I really went out of my way to make it very diverse today and you STILL managed to sting them all together! Great job! As I said to Jim this morning, it was his and your recommendation that I add some of me to these medleys. It doesn’t seem to put people off so I’m glad you two guys suggested it.
Love Ya!
Super good, as usual, Fred!
Loved this! Frank and Nancy Sinatra wow! Haven’t heard that song and can’t remember how long. I especially loved all the other old is that she brought back that I haven’t heard in maybe 30 years. So great to hear all this again. And Assist hit from Charlie Rich gosh I had almost forgotten what a beautiful melody that had. And that silken voice of Charlie Rich could listen to that again and again. I loved all of this this was absolutely the best, got me in such a wonderful mood. Now on my way to get my final check up from the cardiologist! Hope my heart rate is not too high! Lol thanks so much Ray, you’re the best🥰
Thank you, Sandy 🥰
I am so glad you enjoyed the memories! I sure hope your heart rates lowered by the time you saw your doctor! 🤣
And on a serious note, I hoped you passed your tests with flying colors! ❤️
Love the way you mixed it up! Its hard to smile these days, but you manage to help me to smile. Thanks and have a wonderful day <3
Thank you, Nancy ❤️
I know these aren’t happy days for you but I can put a smile on your face every morning, it’s enough to make me feel like I’m helping, even if only slightly.
Great diverse mix
Midnight Train to GA an all time fave…what a great arrangement
You know how to start the day right – with music
Thanks, Mary Helen 🥰
I will admit to having a teenage crush on Gladys. A beautiful woman with such a lovely voice.
There will be nothing diverse tomorrow. It is going to be a 44-minute rock and roll party!
Have a wonderful day!
Super good, as usual, Fred!
Great mix again today. Love Charlie Rich and not surprised it was #1 on country & top 100. Seems I am always drawn to “cross-over” artists, Conway Twitty, Roy Orbison, Brenda Lee. Glad you took Fred & Jim’s advice, and keep on DJing!
Thank you, Pat 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it. Now that I think about it, you are drawn to those types. I would add Dale & Grace, along with Jim Reeves to your list. 🙂
Yes, that is true!!
What a great medley to get me thru the day, especially after I found our what car repair bill is gonna be .. needed something to smile about!
Have a good night my friend!
Thank you, Penny 🥰
I’m sorry about the car repair bill. Sometimes it feels like you can never catch a break!
