Monday’s Music Memories

Allow me to start by saying it is, after putting together medleys for well over a dozen years, getting a little more difficult coming up with fresh ideas every day. I never want to repeat myself but I realize I do at times.

There is the additional concern about how many people are actually listening. I have no way of knowing who, among the people who requested an email notice of each days’ medley, ever even open it.

I have not decided to throw in the towel just yet, but I will say in all honesty that I am considering it. In the meantime, here are eleven musical memories and every one of them played a part in the soundtrack of your life.

What a great variety of medleys today from Mr Bojangles to ring of fire!! Then to finish it off with Andy Williams .. Can’t get used to losing you!! Great way to start the week!!!!

As far as your comments above …. I think there are still the majority of us who listen but they may not acknowledge such as a comment either here or on the post you make on facebook. You need to do what is best for you and what you feel in your heart on continuing the medleys or not. I for one love these medleys and would be very sad BUT you need to do for you!!

Either way, I want to make sure you know the impact you had on me over the years!! You, your kind words and music have helped me through some of my darkest times and more times than I can count have helped me through the day!!

I am sure others have similar stories of the impact you have made to them over the years as well!!

Just know dear sweet man, you are loved and appreciated by many …….. me included!!

    Love ya Mr DJ man

      Thank you, Penny! 🥰
I really don’t know where to begin because there is so much kindness and love in your commentary. But I will start with this: I know you listen … every day! As for comments from you and others, I don’t expect people to take the time to do it. My comment about not knowing who is listening is based on the fact that the internal numbers on this site indicate how many hits each medley receives. Some people go to the site because it is bookmarked and others receive the medleys through a private message on Facebook. There are 60 +/- who get an email each day but only 40 or so in that category actually listen so I suspect 20 or so aren’t opening the email (and that’s OK!)
I’m not going anywhere yet. It’s not that easy to get rid of me. 🙂
Love you, too, dear lady ❤
      XOXO

What a great start!! I can close my eyes and see Sammy Davis JR. dancing to this song!! If this was all I heard today I’d be happy!! Ray if you don’t mind I’m just going to listen this AM!! It’s like the song says I’m in for something good!!
    love ya!!

Fred, you can rest assured I have no problem if you just listen. I always hope the songs bring back memories and makes your day a little easier.
      Love Ya!

Hermans Hermit song brings visions of The Naked Gun with Precilla Presley 🙂 They all bring back memories…Good for the soul 🙂
As always, Thank you Ray. You are appreciated by many

      Thank you, Eileen 🥰
If I can make your soul happy, that makes me smile. 🙂

  4. Nancy Lancour

Penny said it all, thanks so much for a great start to a new day/week. xx

      Thank you, Nancy 🥰
I’m afraid you’re stuck with me!

WOW, what a great mix of songs today, and what great memories, too! I didn’t know that Roy Orbison had recorded Claudette, and I haven’t heard Andy Williams in a long time. I agree with Penny, do whatever is best for you. I have enjoyed your posts for many years and will miss you if you decide to end these medleys.

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thank you, Pat 🥰
Most people identify Claudette with the Everly Brothers but Roy is the man who wrote it. Claudette was Roy’s first wife. She died in a motorcycle accident in 1966.
Thank you for your very kind words. You don’t have to miss me. I’m not going anywhere. 🙂

  6. Donna Tillson-Bass

What a great medley! It saddens me to think, you are thinking of stopping! But you need to do what is best for you! These medleys bring lots of cheer, to many of us! You are very sweet and kind, and very much appreciated!

I don’t always comment, but I do listen. Commenting is really hard at the moment, because of my eye sight! But I couldn’t let this go by, without saying, how much I have learned from listening to your medleys and the history you that you do.

You are the DJ with the mostest! You have the hearts of many for your listeners.

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Donna 🥰
I don’t ever expect you to comment, given your current situation.Knowing you went the extra mile today makes your comment all the more beautiful.
      God bless you!

Hey Ray you’re a musician – one who brings us music. If this is a passion keep doing the difficult work it takes to assemble these medleys. If you also want audience approval you must know it’s not the # of fans, but their quality and appreciation. We look forward to these musical treats!
Just loved today’s medley on this manic Monday…you had me dancing and singing.
If you go it will leave a hole in our hearts, but as I said before it has to fill your own needs.
Keep on rocking and streamin 💙🎶

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thank you, Mary Helen 🥰
The only audience approval I worry about is not boring listeners with too much of any artist. As I said to Sandy, getting away from “themes” and focusing instead of just music will help guide my work.
I appreciate your comments. I always have.

Ray, this was absolutely a super way to start the week. Mr. Bojangles, Johnny Cash’s ring of fire, could listen to Glenn Campbell over and over, and Andy Williams gosh haven’t heard his voice for a while. I know you mentioned something about repeating things and coming up with something original or newer fresh or whatever. You should never concern yourself with that there are songs that I could listen to every day if you put them on the mix. And as for people they don’t check in or don’t say anything or do not even visit the site, it’s their loss! That may sound tough but it’s true. You go to a great lengths to provide a service for us for free from love, I know for me I’ve had certain hiccups where I had to listen to two or three in one day, but I can’t even imagine not listening! Course I am a music lover no two ways about that. If you leave I will be very very sad, But I do understand how you feel, and I think I speak in the majority by saying that we all would want you to be happy. We all have to have a need fulfilled in ourselves whether it be from other people a job, animals whatever! You fill something in me every single day that makes me so happy. Maybe we should start having smile vision so we can see what each other looks like. I most generally have a huge Smile on my face listening. So one more time I’m gonna say, you’re the best! Love you Mr. DJ man! 🥰

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thank you, Sandy 🥰
I admit I could have worded my medley intro a lot better. My primary concern isn’t the number of listeners, nor is it the number of people who comment. My main concern is, and always has been, the dilemma of creating playlists that don’t repeat themselves. That is what I struggle with. I too often get hung on “themes” and I have decided to get away from that as much as possible. I tried it with today’s medley and it worked out reasonably well (I hope.)
I treasure your enthusiastic responses. I treasure YOU.

  9. Jane Abbott Sweatt

I enjoy all of the medleys Ray. Sometimes not on the day you send the email but they are always a treat. Some medleys are listened to more than once in fact. I appreciate all the work and time spent putting these medleys together.
    Best,
    Janie

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Janie 🥰
I appreciate your very kind comments. They were a real treat for me!

  10. Jim Waters

I also agree with Penny’s well written comment. I do, in fact listen to every one and since I am relatively new to it, I have spent time listening to ones in the archives that were before my time here on the site. There certainly does not have to be a separate theme for each mix. “Memories Medley” works for every one of your medleys!

Lots of hard work and love goes into it and that is obvious to me for sure. Love, Jim

    1. Ray (Post author)

Jim, thank you so much for your kind words. Thanks to blog comments like yours (and others I received via email and private messages), I now realize “themes” (which was my biggest concern) are not necessary. From now on, it’s just going to be a medley of rock and roll memories, and nothing but that.
I sincerely appreciate your support and encouragement.
      ROCK ON, BRO!

  11. Fred

Ray please just play what comes in to your head!! I don’t think you need themes!! For me one song will bring back memories and that I love!! Like today’s if all you played was 3 of these tunes I would have been happy!! Do what you do I don’t know anybody that has the knowledge that you have!! Just be you and all is well! Love ya

    1. Ray (Post author)

That is the plan from now on, Fred. No more self-imposed musical boundaries. If a song is a wonderful musical memory, regardless of what year it comes from, I will play it.
      Love Ya!

  12. Liz Karlton

Well it took awhile to realize your message ended in a junk folder no less. Your messages are redirected now and I’m a happy camper. Love what you do for all of us.
I’m a late night gal and listening now while wearing a smile on my face.
    love,
    Liz

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thank you, Liz 🥰
I’m glad you checked that folder!
Memories and Smiles is the perfect combination.
      Hope you’e doing well. ❤
