Remembering…

I long ago made a promise that I would never allow this date to pass without playing a particular clip from the “Heather & Ray Show” at WCFR in Springfield, VT.

I have not forgotten.

Time does not diminish the sadness. It has been 21 years, yet in many ways it still feels like yesterday. The hurt and the pain will never go away, nor should it. Americans bounced back – as we always do – but the memories of those lost and the bravery of heroes who saved countless others will remain forever etched in our hearts and minds.

When Heather and I started our morning show on WCFR sixteen years ago today, we both knew it could not be the usual program of music from the 50s and 60s, a lot of laughter, and good-natured jabs at each other.
We spent the next four hours playing sound clips from that fateful day five years earlier and the music those events inspired.

You can hear below the way she and I started that show, followed by the song that has become synonymous with September 11, 2001.

Wow, every time I watch it I pray the buildings don’t come down but they still do. I can’t imagine, even faintly imagine, what the families went through. Every year they relive it again and again. God Bless America

It’s difficult to believe that 21 years have passed since that tragic occurrence on 9/11 happened. It seems as if it could’ve happened yesterday, and the damages that were done the peoples lives who were disturbed the lives that were lost it’s almost in imaginable still. Thank you for keeping it ever present in our minds Ray. It is so important that we never forget, not ever!

      Thank you, Sandy. ❤️
It was the worst of times but I was so proud of how Americans responded … with a sense of unity that seems sadly to no longer exist.

This day will never leave our hearts and I remember like it was yesterday!! I was at a friends in Claremont and we heard the news!! I had your station on the radio and raced home to see the second plane fly into second tower! Nancy and I did not know what to think we thought maybe we were under attack!! The damage will never be gone and nor will the memories!! May God bless those that still have to live with the pain they went through with the loss of loved ones and our first responders!!

Thank you Ray! It has some vivid memories. It became real personal. One of my employees had a sister who was working on one of those plains that hit the building. A truly horrific and destructive event that touched so many lives! It’s sad to think how evil man can be to fellow men! A lesson well learned and hopefully, never repeated. We all need to pray! 🙏🙏🙏❤️

I love listening to that song and I play it a lot at home. I cry everytime I see the video with it. A day the world will never forget. I know I won’t ever forget where I was or what I was doing.

      Thank you, Linda ❤️
Alan Jackson’s song simply (and beautifully) said it all.
