Rock Till You Drop!

Today we’re going to display how much rock and roll changed through the years … and wow, it changed a lot!

We start out with three icons from the 1950s (and yes, I could have included Chuck Berry and Elvis, but they had the day off).

We then roll into the 1960s (and yep, I could have included the Beatles, but they were out of the office).

We finish with a set from the 1970s (and there a lot of bands I had to leave out because I didn’t want to keep you here all day).

The purpose of the medley is to demonstrate just how much music changed in a 20-year period AND to get you moving, whether you’re dancing on the floor or in a chair. Or maybe it will help Teresa Flynn put her treadmill into overdrive! 🙂

I think Jojo and I would get along quite well. 🙂 I’m so glad you both enjoyed the music. ❤️

Ray you do realize I use supplemental oxygen!! Let’s just say it’s on!! Nancy is chair dancin and my feet are going nuts!! I bet Tee is on high speed or dancin on the treadmill!! Ray I am going out on a limb here but for me the early Rock is my favorite!! It just has a way of putting me in a different space!! Yes it has changed over the years and you can sense the difference and it set the pace for today’s rock!! Love the way you put the year’s together!! And I will say this the oldies is the best!! Feeling better and today was great therapy for me love ya

Thanks, Fred. I’m with you on early rock. It was primal and urgent. It didn’t always have the best production values but that’s what made it so special. I’m so glad the two of you enjoyed the music.
      Love Ya (Both!)

    I give it a 10 because I can dance to it 😂
Love the percussion on My Sharona
Enjoyed your take on the evolution!

      Thanks, Mary Helen 🥰
Bruce Gary’s drum pattern on My Sharona has long been admired, and I thought presenting the songs in progressing decades would make the evolution really stand out. I’m glad you enjoyed that.

A rockin’, rainy, toe-tapping day. I can even tolerate “Get Offa My Cloud”, all these years later!!

      Thanks, Pat. 🥰
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. The Get Off Of My Cloud comment cracked me up. 🤣

  5. Sandy Gaither

This was great Ray sure did get my toes to happen I loved how you went from the 50s to the 60s to the 70s that was fabulous, just a little touch of everything, I loved it!! I don’t have a whole lot to say today, I am still trying to absorb the fact that I have another schedule back in for my second heart Cath on 10/6. I should be a new person by then don’t you think?Thank you for this it was so fun, got me moving a little bit. You’re the best Ray!

My dear Sandy, you should be as good as new! I will continue to keep you in my prayers. In the meantime, try to keep the dancing to a minimum. ❤️

  6. Rodger Capron

Thank you for sharing these. I always liked Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. I used to go to a couple places to dance a few times a week. Sometimes I would be the only one on the dance floor. I miss those nights.

Rodger, thank you for that very heartfelt comment. I think we all miss those days. Life was much simpler in the “good old days.” 🙂

  7. Penny S Capron

Sorry I didn’t comment yesterday .. got a lot on my mind! BUT I did listen and personally like the earlier hits but I was toe tapping and dancing in my chair through all of them (thank goodness no one was around to watch .. LOL) Have a good night my friend!
