We continue our look back at the rocking side of the 60s today with nine more classic hits from that decade, including a three-in-a-row mix of songs with the now classic Rickenbacker guitar sound.
Here’s a hint for you. That Rickenbacker mix begins with the Beau Brummels and concludes with the Byrds.
Once again, you won’t find any ballads in this group of songs although the Beatles song would never be considered a fast-paced rock and roll song. I included it because Marty Morse loves it and I think the world of Marty, so there you go. 🙂

What a great way to start my day! I’ve got to stop dancing this early in the AM as I am spilling my morning coffee!! Nancy has been calling me a Yardbird lately! She knows I have a heart of stone but she wants me back in the house a little more!! Ray we don’t cry at night anymore because everyone wants to see us and we both know that love is blind! My guitar has been weeping for years! However it has been passed on down the line and I know it is happy again!! Speaking of yard birds I am getting alot of Beatles on my plants but I guess that’s cause I sing to them!! 1965 what a year we didn’t have to worry about strangers black was black and white was white!! The nice thing about having a garden I don’t have to run away to look for Byrds yet my kness feel like they are on needles and pins!! But I still get down on my kness ans pray! The Searchers are feeling alot better as we have found the “King Of The DJ’S and we don’t ever want you gone! 1968 we sure did do alot of touching in those days and I still remember the stars falling from the sky!! And I am so glad that Heaven still starts the rain!! (How can you not love a sax for a lead)All right Ray you are looking great and you sure to tell alot of stories!! I you sure do have a great reputation
HEY I love ya!!
Fred, you are a maniac (in a good way)! I have no idea how you manage to put these commentaries together in such an interesting way. Somehow, they always seem to make sense!
Love Ya Right Back!
Fantastic, Fred!!
❤️
Have enjoyed everyone of these this morning Ray. One of them maybe more than once. I was not familiar with the Bull Brummell tune. After listening to it twice still nothing? It may have been a quarter of a century or more since I have heard Needles and Pins (did I just say a quarter of a century).
Fred must have consumed a whole pot of coffee before commenting this morning. Hahaha
Have a great day!
Thanks, Marty
The Beau Brummels song charted high in Canada (only #52 in the U.S.) but I find it interesting because it was produced by Sylvester Stewart a year before he started Sly & The Family Stone. Noted music historian Maury Dean praised the song’s “raging chord patterns and dynamic harmonies,” and called the instrumental bridge “second to none in punch and pulse in power.”
At our age, a quarter of a century feels like yesterday! 😉
Rock The Day!
OK this just rocked my soul, and I am wearing out my shoes rapidly dancing around listening to all these tunes! They are tunes that I love however, so that just makes it OK! What a great selection oh my gosh! Course I’m not sure I could say anything would ever come close to the comments made by my fellow blogger! Yeah you know who that is our boy Freddy! Holy cow, and needles and pins! I will be listening to this one again that is for sure. Thank you Ray for another wonderful medley of entertainment! You’re the best! 🥰
Thank you, Sandy 🥰
I’m feeling bad about your shoes. If you’d like, I can send you money to buy a new pair. 🙂
Fred really is our resident philosopher!
Rock On!
didn’t recognize a couple but still a great medley .. and of course I got a chuckle from Fred’s comment … LOL!!
Have a wonderful day my friend!
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Penny, and I hope this heat isn’t wearing you down.
Reading Fred’s comments will keep a smile on your face. 🥰
So enjoyed this medley
Great pick for Beatles selection
Didn’t recognize Beau Brummel piece, but it was a good one…thanks for your comments on this
Really loved the sax parts on the Doors selection
Always a very pleasant experience
Thank you, Mary Helen 🥰
I’m so glad, as always, that you enjoyed it. Tomorrow I will be heading into the 70s and the music, as you well know, will be a little, um, heavier. On Friday, I’ll be wrapping up the week with a mix of high energy 50s, 60s and 70s songs. It’s been a nice little project.
I guess from now on we all will remember Beau Brummel from now on! great songs again today.
Thank you, Pat 🥰
I appreciate your comments … always!
