The Doo-Wop Diner

Wednesday is the day we have been focusing on Doo-Wop music and that continues today … with a catch.

This will be the final Doo-Wop medley and there is, I think, a good reason for that. There are just so many times you can play the genre without repeating yourself ad nauseam. I will continue to incorporate select Doo-Wop songs into “oldies” medleys but they will be combined with standard 50s and 60s rock and roll.

And while I’m at it, I appreciate the recent comments regarding the Thursday Country music medleys, but here’s the bottom line. When I started my site 17 years ago, it was for the sole purpose of playing “oldies” (hence the name Streamingoldies) from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Even giving up one day a week to play a completely different genre doesn’t fit the mission. It was my fault for venturing in that direction. I should never have done it. If you want country music (or strictly Doo-Wop), I’m sorry, but you’ll have to find them somewhere else … for the time being.

BECAUSE THERE IS SOME GOOD NEWS. I have added two new .coms to my burgeoning group of music domains (there are now ten of them); CountryStreaming and StreamingDooWop. Neither one is active at the moment (because I just bought them) but I will let you know when they are ready. Now all I have to do is find the time to put them together!

What a coincidence…I was planning to leave a comment saying IMHO you should return to the original intent of your blog
The digressions we’re fine, but it was more of a request line
Always enjoyed your knowledge of the tunes and the backstories
    Please return to your roots
Happy Spring and here’s to the rebirth of perennial favorites

      Happy Spring, Mary Helen 🥰
My musical roots are deeply embedded in rock and roll oldies and that is where I must focus. Thank you for “getting it.” 🙂

Ray as much as I like Doo Wop to hear it once and awhile is fine with me!! I mean Gum Drops only last a few minutes all she wants is the honey(great sax)Besides Mr. Fox just wants to know why the stars are in the sky And his heart skips a beat. And his love for you is square Ray can you tell me why why don’t we ask the Roys?? Maybe Baby Blue would know!! She is only seventeen Ray so how could she know why the stars are in the sky! I don’t know why it seems her name Echoes oh well we will still call her Baby Blue!! It seems like the dominoes effect Ray now we are in the still of the night(must be my meds I swear it’s morning)I feel like I’m seeing Deep Purple woo,wo-o-oo-wo-wo!! Do you ever feel like your seeing sleepy garden walls and the stars begin to twinkle Ray I swear I see your face in the moonlight beams! I guess it’s those sweet purple dreams!! Peanuts Ray(great snack)Dit-dit,dooby do wah! Ray although it’s insane I’m mad about you(instrumental Interlude)and I don’t care what you play for music cause if you love it we all love it!! However this song was a thriller and it is insane to think about Little Joe riding a horse on Bonanza(cochise was his name)Oh peanuts you’ve got to give a little!! After all that is the story of love!! So Ray we’re going to laugh a little cry a little until the clouds go by a little cause Ray we have the world and all it’s charms so we will always have the blues together!! Ray now my heart is slowly breaking and I know why! Ray I didn’t mean to make you cry!! I’d add more to the story but that’s all there is and I know you didn’t say goodbye!! Ray I have always loved the choices you make and we need to remember that you are giving us a time capsule!! I have been listening to you for years including your days on the radio and have never been disappointed with your choices!! the songs bring back such memories good and bad but to me it’s a history lesson for where we are today!! So Mr. DJ keep on what you are doing as you are the best!! Thank you Ray the time and energy you spend for us is well loved please don’t stop!! love ya

Fred, you have honestly blown me away with your commentary. It was, as it always is, wonderful, but it is your comments about me and my humble efforts, that really touched me. I can’t adequately express my appreciation. You, my friend, are a great motivator!
      Love Ya!

Doo-wops are always fun, in moderation. Country is great, but not your original choices. Ray from the very beginning the thing that attracted me the most to your website, streaming oldies was your knowledge of the oldies! The trips in time taken back by you have been absolutely awesome. And I am happy that they are going to continue. I have the very deepest respect for what you do, and how very well that you do it! Whatever you choose to do, I’m definitely on board. I’ve always loved the oldies I still love them I have lots of them in my house, and even in my car. Please continue with the love that you had and what got you into the industry to begin with. It’s what we all long to hear, us old Rock ‘n’ roll or’s! Looking forward to future! You’re the best Ray! 🥰

      Thank you, Sandy 🥰
I have no problem with doo-wop or country music. In fact I enjoy them both BUT I do have a rock and roll heart and playing oldies is where I belong. I am very glad to know you understand and I am thrilled you are going to be on board as the journey continues! 🥰
