Back To 1961!

It’s Monday and we’re starting the week with a trip back to 1961 and eight songs that were major hits on the Billboard Hot 100. How major were they? Five of them reached #1 and the other three reached the Top 10.

I have indicated the peak chart position of each song in parentheses below.

My heart is on fire!! (indigestion lol)Elvis was so good and as I walk along I wonder what you are up to next?? You’ll probably want us to walk in the rain and then you’ll run away!! Dum Dum a Diddley Dum one more time Ray then bring that sax in!!

Can you imagine trying to twist with a hundred pouds of clay and a saxaphone?? Oh well I remember when!! I got dizzy going round and round!! Ray there is something I’ve got to say..Don’t ever make my baby cry!! Damn that river took my baby away!! I can’t believe that is Pat Boone singing that!! # 1 on the charts!! I was a Freshman in high in 1961 and these sure do bring back a lot of memories. Dell Shannon and Bobby Vee are favorites. I loved Pat Boone, but this song is just too sad! I love it when you pick a year & play the hits from that year. Anyhow, you are the best, Ray.

      Thanks, Pat πŸ₯°
I agree with you on Pat’s song being sad (actually morbid, to be honest) but it was one of the biggest hits of the year so I had to put it in.
I enjoy doing the “year” thing a lot!

61 was a great year, obviously since it is the year I came into the world … LOL
I know I sound like a broken record at times but the 60’s and 70’s had the best music. Like others, I like reading others comments and love Fred’s commentary, he knows just how to twist things up! πŸ™‚ I agree Pat Boone’s song is sad, I don’t think people in general really listen to the words of songs sometimes and comprehend the meaning behind them, just my thoughts.
You are the man, Have a great day Ray!

      Thank you, Penny πŸ₯°
Well, I’d say 1961 was a very special year!
You are right about the music, so saying it often is the right thing to do. πŸ˜‰
Fred is definitely twisted … but adorable! ❀️
