Practically Speechless

It’s rare when I post a medley on a Sunday and it’s even more rare when I post two of them! But thanks to a suggestion by Tim Johnson Arsenault, that’s what you’re getting today.

The first is a mellowish (is that a word?) mix of some of the more quiet rock and roll instrumentals. To be more precise, they were instrumentals that became rock and roll hits.

The second medley is filled with instrumentals of a more upbeat nature. You know, real rock and roll hits.

I can’t claim that these songs are completely without words because two songs … one in each medley … do have a lyric, a single, solitary lyric. 🙂

Ray did Clapton play this? Classical Gas was written by Mason to show his Classic guitar playing! Sleepwalk Ray?? I don’t remember the name Ray but musically (Bert) sure could play!! I know this next one!! (I think) Last Date?? Ray why is my brain remembering these songs?? Stranger on the shore I think this was played at our house growing up!! I’m just going to sit back and stop the naming of these songs they all came out later!! Ray what a fantastic lineup the Mellow was!! On my second cup!! Enjoying this so much as the instrumental versions seem to be very calming and is getting some cobwebs out of this old brain!! As an old musician it makes me appreciate the music more!! Such talent and shows these artists are really great!! Your first set got my brain working and this secod set is just plain fun to listen to!! I wonder what would happen if you had a brain meld with Mr. Spock??? I’m sure they would give up and say this man can’t be human nobody can put together a mix of tunes like you do!! It’s not the tequila!! Love ya Ray have a great Sunday you made mine!!

Fred, you might remember these songs because they were all hits. 🙂 Classical Gas, Sleepwalk, Strangers On The Shore, Wonderland At Night and Love Is Blue were all #1 songs. Last Date reached #2. It certainly was a different era.
In the “rock” medley, The Ventures, Cliff Nobles, The Champs, and the Edgar Winter Group all reached #1.
I don’t think my brain could match Mr. Spock’s. It wouldn’t be logical! 😉
      Love Ya!

Hey Ray, this was such a great treat for a Sunday. I had to listen to it in increments, trying to get myself together here, with a yard crew working outside making all kinds of racket. Course that just made me turn up this music louder. It was such a treat to have this on a Sunday! And because it’s such mellow music, will definitely have to listen to it again. Loved all of the songs and artist! I’m easy, as I just love so many different kinds of music! You’re the best!

      Thanks, Sandy 🥰
I have to give all the credit to Tim because this was his idea. That said, I am (as always) so glad to know you enjoyed it. Your comments ALWAYS make my day! ❤️

Well I didn’t Sleep Walk through this one.
While working on the Pipeline through the Red River Valley I had Tequila and Green Onions that gave me a Classical Gas.
And in the end I learned Love is Blue and Jesu is the Joy of Man’s Desiring…
Fun with some of the titles
    Thanks… enjoyed it

Surprising medley today and loved it. Songs sound a lot different w/o the vocals so took me a few times to recognize them .. LOL
Have a wonderful rest of your day sweet mr dj man!

      Thanks, Penny 🥰
It’s hard to believe but back in the late 50s and early-to-mid 60s, rock and roll instrumentals received a lot of airplay on AM radios. It was phased out on AM but gradually became a big part of the FM radio sound.
Have a great night and a super Monday! 🥰
