Doo-Wop Wednesday!

It’s Wednesday and you must know what that means … Doo-Wop Music!

There are seven up tempo tunes, and as was the custom “back in the day,” the set closes with a slow (and very beautiful) song. So grab your dancing shoes and let’s go!

What could be simpler, all you need is 3 or 4 guys, even 5, and a street corner, OK maybe add a street light and you are good to go..Do you need a guitar? No, not really. How about a set of drums? Well that would be nice but not really. How about a girl? Well maybe later, but not at the beginning. We can get a guy with a falsetto for the high notes for now. Let’s just keep it simple. How ‘bout a big vocabulary? No way, we can make up our own words, or maybe just some cool sounds, like “baba” “Bobo”or “Dodahdo” That’ll work. I guess we are up to subject matter. What could be simpler, GIRLS! We can sing about wanting them, missing them, losing them, anything about GIRLS will work. All right, all we need now is a name for this new art form. I know let’s call it Doo Wop! That says it all. Done.

Don, I believe you summed it up quite nicely. So … you want a cappella Doo-Wop next week? Yes, it appears that you do and you shall have it! 🙂

      1. Don Doyle

Thank you , Ray. That would be nice.

Ray I don’t think anyone could top Don this am!! This style has me tapping my toes and singing all the Doo Wops Etc!! A little sax in the mix!! I love the way they will often use off beat to keep time!! I close my eyes and think of the dance styles that went with these great tunes!! Full swing beats and the harmony drives me crazy!! The lyrics were simple but fun!! The roof has got a drip!! You might say I’m Drifting into another Demensions!! Ray as always loved it!! Love ya!! Every time I see you smile!!!

Truly taken back to another era, and a much simpler time! Didn’t really know much beyond my town. Sports and girls, how simple is that! And, oh yes, school, which we used to promote the other two! LoL!! We grew up in a blessed time! Thank you, Ray! You bring such happiness to these old bones!

Thank you so much, Peter. I appreciate the kind words.
You’re right about our knowledge virtually ending at the town border. Sometimes I wonder if weren’t all better off not knowing what we didn’t know. A MUCH simpler time!

Can you say doo-wop? Oh my gosh I think we just did! I’m not sure I could ever match all of the wonderful dialogue from Don, but I do love that there is so much harmonizing and even if you didn’t know a word, you could sing along. This was so fun to listen to I always look forward to Wednesdays. Except that I was so occupied with the repairs I had going on in the house, I forgot to listen to this yesterday. But better late than never this happens to me a lot it seems. I am more organized than that. But then, who cares. This was great as always thank you so much for the way you had to put together it was just great loved it! 🥰

      Thanks, Sandy 🥰
The difficult part about doing this is knowing what style to play; fast, slow, a cappella, backing musicians, etc.

Next week will be a cappella, and they tend to be slower, but with outstanding harmonies. Maybe you’ll have to do some slow dancing but you won’t bother the cats quite as much. ❤️

I will be sure to have my dancing shoes ready. And hey my orange tabby Seth, actually I have cradled him in my arms and danced with him! He loves it

          Sounds like a plan! ❤️
