Hit Songs of The 1960s

There is no real theme today, other than every one of these songs were hits in the 60s. Not just hit songs but big hit songs! Okay, so I guess there is a theme, after all.

It’s (hopefully) going to put smiles on your faces. I know I smiled a lot while putting it together. πŸ™‚

Well all right! If this was on the radio I probably would never have turned the dial and discovered Country Music. Obviously we all are in agreement that this is the music that made our youth so very interesting. Sadly, things deteriorated and as listeners we went looking for music that spoke to our souls. The 60’s were a magical era and those of us who were fortunate to experience magic firsthand will never forget it. Great selections today, wonderful memories, good times.

Thank you, Don. Very well stated … and I’m sure it didn’t hurt to have The Kinks included in the medley. πŸ˜‰

Ray I am so glad we made it(another day)! Don is right the 60’s was a magical era I remember Crimson and Clover and this song came from a dream!! And the Beatles were so good at telling stories!! What can we say about the Animals!! We got get out of this place better life for me and you!! Those words made the song for me!! And back then the Kinks were so good!! However they were banned for 5 years as Davies said we were dangerous and America felt threatened I looked this up Ray why I remembered that I don’t know??? Did you bring this up in one of your shows? How can you go wrong with Eric Clapton then jeff Beck!! Great history why Clapton left!! I can still hear my ole hound dog runin’ dowm in the bayou Loved these songs Ray!! And you must have brought up the history of the Kinks at some point?(why else would I have remembered the Kinks story?? Fantastic as always your choices were fun and always bring back such good times!! I can still hear your voice blasting on my radio fun times Ray!! Love ya and stay warm!!

Thanks, Fred. I am always so happy when you enjoy the music and the memories!
Yes, I have told The Kinks’ story before. Their offstage behaviour quickly saw the group on the receiving end of a four-year ban from touring in the States, sanctioned by the American Federation of Musicians. The ban severely hampered the band’s career in the U.S. as once they were allowed to tour again tastes had drastically changed.
      Love Ya!

Ray thank you for Crimson and Clover!! I loved this whole medley, as long as that bring back memories are always the best ones in our lives. Loved the kinks and the animals! And of course CCR. I don’t have to tell you how much I love the Beatles, because you already know that. Every song they ever did, was a hit in my book. But your intro song from the Spencer Davis group was the best! Now if that doesn’t get you moving and getting your blood circulating that you have a problem people! Love it all. And wait for the next one!

Enjoyed all, especially the Kinks and Crimson and Clover…never understood the lyrics but they tried lots of new sounds and techniques…wa wa pedal etc…loved it for the sound and arrangement

Thanks, Mary Helen. Crimson and Clover took Tommy and his band out of the garage rock era into full-blown psychedelia. Sandy completely agrees with you!

The 60s gave us so many awesome songs to choose from! I couldn’t go wrong with any of those songs.
Speaking of warming up, the temperature dropped from 54 at 5:30 this morning to 30 just two hours later!
      STAY SAFE!
