Country Music Thursday

I received so many country music song and artist suggestions, I was blown away! It’s going to take quite a few Thursdays to get to them all so please be patient.

Artists such as Cash, Jennings, Haggard, Jones, Gill, Urban, Harris, Griffith, Mattea, lang, McEntire, and so many more will all be coming but today’s medley should get this Country Music Thursday idea started on the right foot.

Thank you, Don. Putting this together was difficult because of the staggering amount of song choices, but it was made a little easier because of requests for specific songs (Strait and Nelson, for example). It was refreshing to get into another genre, but I have a super set of 60s rock lined up for tomorrow. Who knows, maybe I’ll have to create another blog site just for country music!
Victoria IS your Wendy, in every way and you have every reason to be proud of her. Her CD (A Salute To Cole Porter) is sitting on my desk!

This is fabulous! Well worth waking up early on my day off! I’m amazed that you have so many country music fans! I will be smiling all day, and will probably listen to this again later! Thank you, for this wonderful medley! You ROCK, when it comes to country music choices!

      Thank you, Donna 🥰
I’m surprised at the number of country music fans, too. I think Thursdays are going to be a lot of fun. 🙂
      Enjoy your day off!

You know Ray, at one point in my life I would have laughed if someone suggested I’d love country music. But both the music and I have changed. Country music seems to speak to the heart of our country … Thursdays just got better! Thanks …..

Thank YOU, Barbara. I agree with you. 40 years ago, you couldn’t have paid me to listen to country music, but that has all changed now. As I said to Don, Thursday’s country music medleys are a refreshing change of pace.

Ray these choices are incredible!! What a way to start a Beautiful day!! The stories these songs tell bring a smile and some times for me a tear!! I must say the musicality in country is second to none!! What can we say about Garth?? Ray I know what you were feelin’ but what was you thinkin’!! As Willie said just take what you need!! And Cowboys were always special!! The lyrics to this song is just plain and simple!! And now we got girls dressed up and I love that bar!! Just plain fantastic Ray!! love ya!!

    1. Ray (Post author)

Thanks, Fred! Once again, you have connected the songs so well.
I particularly enjoyed Willie’s song. His voice was perfect for that song and the lyrics are beautiful.
      Love Ya!

These songs are all fantastic mega hit Country! As I get older and not into the newer artists (with the exception of Taylor though she’s been around a while too and began with Country), I find the lyrics and rhythm of Country to be more relatable. (Sorry for that run-on sentence, lol!) Thank you and your listeners’ suggestions for some of these tunes. It was a truly beautiful way to begin a good morning. 🙂 XOXOXOXO 🙂

      Thanks, Wendyl ❤️
Country music singers do have a way of telling stories, both happy and sad. That was true when I was younger (much younger), but the “twang” that was so prominent back then put me off. Today’s country songs are so much different. As for Ms. Swift, fear not, some of her early material will be featured soon. 🙂
      ❤️XOXOXOXO❤️

Yahoo! And yippee ki yay! This was awesome, and certainly fulfilled my need for some good country music. Could listen to it every day all day. I think it’s very interesting that As you progress through your life you start off being sold on everything that’s popular in the day. Then as you get older you start to become more and more intrigued with different genres, and before you know it you’re hooked on something completely different. I guess I have always loved country just because it sends a message. Where else could you hear about your girl, your horse, your truck and being a cowboy! Oh and you can love this bar!! Play some more Garth brooks and play more George strait and maybe throw in a little Reba McIntyre and some Trisha Yearwood of course! This was awesome Ray I will look forward to this every single week. This was a masterpiece, Mr. DJ ❤️

      Thank you, Sandy ❤️
The reaction to last week and this week’s country medleys have shocked me. I have received more country requests than I do for rock and roll. Maybe it really is time for me to rethink all of this.
Again, thank you for your enthusiastic response!

Not the biggest country fan, but so glad I have friends in low places…
All male…some great female artists too?

    1. Ray (Post author)

Next week, the “stage” will be filled with females, Mary. 🙂

  8. Penny

Stay safe and warm my friend!

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Penny 🥰
I have female singers filling the bill next week (and there are some great ones)! I’m happy you enjoyed this one. 🙂
It’s 54 right now and we have heavy rainfall stating this afternoon and lasting through the night.
      Stay Safe!

This was just great, Ray. Perfect mix of love songs and “bar” songs! Love them all. This “country girl” says thanks.
