Doo-Wop Memories!

Some people think listening to music 50 or 60 years old is going back too far. Well, for starters, that’s absolute nonsense because anyone who thinks 1960s music no longer counts is certifiable.

More to the point, those folks are going to have a real problem with this medley because we’re going well past the 60-year mark, and in one song’s case (1951’s Sixty Minute Man), we’re going back 71 years!

If you really want to capture the golden age of Doo-Wop, you have to wander back to the 50s and that’s where all the music in this medley originated.

Fred, I’m getting the feeling you really enjoyed it! YOU were the inspiration for me posting the medley today because you asked for more Doo-Wop a few weeks ago … and I listened. πŸ™‚
42 degrees would feel like a heatwave up here. It’s 10:00 and the temperature is all the way up to 11.

      Thanks, Mary Helen.
60 Minute Man was banned by many radio stations but still managed to reach #1 on the R&B charts, a position it held for an almost unprecedented 14 weeks. The single also made it to #17 on the pop singles chart.
      I am very glad you’re in. πŸ™‚

Thanks for accepting the invitation, Penny, and while I’m sorry you’re riding that roller coaster, I do hope the music helps to slow it down. ❀️

Well needless to say, I am just in heaven with these songs. Goes back to the very beginning for me, listening to songs that my parents liked from the 40s and 50s, and even some of the early 60s they were OK with. Thank you for ending with Danny and the juniors, at the hop was my very first 45 that I ever bought. Kind of a rite of passage. I used to babysit πŸ€—For neighbors, at $.25 an hour. Can you imagine? I used to save up to buy 45s. This was the greatest collection anybody who does not like doo-wop, needs to think again. This was absolutely the best over the top, I know you know I love it!! Thanks so much for inviting me to be part of this group! I couldn’t be happier!

    1. Ray (Post author)

Sandy, I couldn’t envision this group without YOU being in it! Your exuberance is contagious! πŸ₯°
