On December 8, 1980, John Lennon was murdered in New York City. For millions of Beatles fan, it is a date we will never forget. On the 41st anniversary of his death, this 12-song medley is filled with only his solo music because if I had added his Beatles material, this medley would have lasted for hours.
John Lennon was not a saint. He would have laughed at the very notion of that. He was a complex human being – often vindictive and cruel, especially to women in his younger years – who struggled to get his band to the “toppermost of the poppermost” only to dismiss much of their success in a 1970 interview as a nightmare because “one had to completely humiliate oneself to be what the Beatles were and that’s what I resent.“
Years later he had mellowed, saying a Beatles reunion shouldn’t be ruled out. “If it happens, I’ll enjoy it. My memories are now all fond and the wounds have healed.”
That possibility was ended forever by bullets fired from a Charter Arms .38 caliber revolver at close range by an obsessed “fan” into Lennon’s back as John and Yoko Ono walked through the archway entrance of their residence at The Dakota.

The John Lennon Medley
wonderful tribute to an amazing artist who was taken way too soon!!
Thank you, Penny. 🥰 It was indeed a tragic loss.
Thank you for this tribute
Thank you, Mary Helen.
Imagine all the people living life in peace
This was great, and a lovely tribute to a talented man, who was cut down in his early years, by cruel fate. I remember how crushed I was that he had been killed. He had more talent in his little finger than a lot of us have in our entire being. Thanks for this Ray, as a wonderful selection of his music. Appreciate it so much.
Thanks, Sandy 🥰
It was a terrible, terrible day all those years ago. Violence is never the answer.
This was great Ray. Many memories of years gone by. A true talent that was lost to us by a fanatic with a gun.
Thank you, Bob. Hopefully the musical memories helped to remind people of John’s gift to us all.
I knew I had seen this yesterday. I looked last nite but was to tired to listen so Ted & I are listening this morning. He had jury draw yesterday & was chosen for a 1 day trial next week. I rode in with him & spent time with a friend, made her day. Listening to these songs I am thinking to many thoughts to put them into words but “love is the answer”. Your picture, John’s smile makes me “imagine” him sowing seeds of love & peace even after all these years & “that’s the truth.” Here’s my smile for you, the music & memories 🙂
Thank you, Lee. You have a very eloquent way with words.
Here is my smile to you.
