Christmas Memories

We end the first week of Christmas medleys and it’s got something a little different in the mix … Me.

Today’s medley includes a country music trio; a spoken piece I did when I was the morning man at WCFR in my hometown of Springfield, VT back in 2005; an iconic American singer; a duet between two country music singers; and a powerhouse number by a Canadian legend.

By the way, I recorded my little – and believe me, it’s little when compared to the others – contribution for this medley sixteen years ago so a few of the “current” gift references may appear to be outdated. The point of the “song” remains the same.

      Thank you, Barbara. 🙂
It is humbling and very flattering to think that my simple message would be considered “the best” in a medley that included Bing Crosby, Celine Dion and Alan Jackson. That said, I am very grateful for your generous comment. 🥰
SAVOR EVERY MINUTE OF THIS DAY!

Your’s was the best Ray …. you shared memories of a softer gentler time … and reminded us what is really important about Christmas. We were given hope …. and the knowledge that someone was sent to save us …. thank you for reminding us what Christmas is really all about. So glad you are my friend and that you are there for us! Stay safe….

This helped reinforce my values Ray. I am going to share this with several of my friends from the past. Very good!

      Thank you, Susan.🥰
I think you have always lived in Bedford Falls. That quality of life has never left you. Thank you so much for your encouraging words. 🥰

I just wanted this to go on and on and on! Ray, listening to the delivery of your Christmas message, enlightening all of us was the pinnacle, the top, the best! To bring us back to reality, to live again in those childhood days, and to remember what the entire Christmas season is all about. Wonderful! We have become so commercialized, and as you say seeking instant gratification, that we have forgotten the simple things in life. And then to hear That very rich and melodic voice of Bing Crosby, was such a treat! I love to hear Celine Dion and have always been a fan of hers, and that seem to sum up everything——God bless us everyone! I truly truly loved this. Thank you seems such an understatement. You have such a gift Ray! 🎶🎶❤️🎄

Sandy, I don’t know how to begin thanking you for your comments. ❤️
It’s very inspiring to know there are so many people who remember what living in Bedford Falls was all about. The simpler life was more meaningful and we all must never forget that. I’ll let you in on a little secret. Seeing your always “filled with positive energy” posts makes it easy to see that you understand the message every day of the year! ❤️

Another great Christmas medley. I especially liked your bit in it! It is such a shame how much things have changed from when we were kids…wish there was a way to go back to the simpler times!!

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Penny 🥰
Over the years, Christmas has become quite stressful for me. I do my best to change that with Christmas music but it still saddens me to see what the world has become.

Hi Ray, a little late today but not being home my schedule is way off, as you can see about 12 hours off. Well “Old Timer” you are preaching to the choir today. I could not agree with you more. We were all very fortunate to grow up when we did, how did that simple, wholesome time disappear? Frank Capra is my all time favorite movie director. Nowadays people think he is corny but he was on point as far as I am concerned. I had the good fortune to meet him and have him autograph his autobiography. I was able to tell him how much his work, especially “It’s a Wonderful Life” meant to me. He was a humble man but told me how much my compliment meant to him. Like you I am and always have been a small town guy. I love the connection you have with others in a small town. Bedford Falls, Mayberry, Lansdowne, or Springfield, call me a hick or a dreamer but what we had was special and you nailed it with your commentary. Today that came first and the music was a nice extra. Thank you Ray for taking the time to send us back to the way it was and still should be. You have a gift, thanks for sharing.

    1. Ray (Post author)

Don, thank you for taking the time to listen and then to comment (beautifully, I might add).
There is something about that movie. It resonates with me and I have been so pleased to see it does the same with so many others.
You are no hick, nor are you a dreamer. What you are is a very wonderful man; a guy who understands wrong from right, and a man passionate about his neighborhood and most certainly about his family. I could go on and on about you, but I’ll end with this. I am very happy we connected!

      1. Don Doyle

Thank you Ray, you’re making me blush. I too am happy for the friendship we have developed, interestingly enough, through modern technology. I still anticipate an in person meeting, hopefully in the near, not distant, future. You ROCK my Brother!

        1. Ray (Post author)

No one wants that face-to-face more than I do!

  10. Pat Conant

This was wonderful, Ray, and everyone’s comments were right on. We were SO lucky to grow up when and where we did. Thanks so much for all you do, Ray. I have been going thru so much lately, and being able to listen to your music and read all the comments make me feel blessed to have become friends with you.

    1. Ray (Post author)

Pat, I so appreciate your kind words. I know there have been some tough moments for you lately and you have constantly been in my prayers. I am pleased the music has helped you, and no one could possibly be happier to be friends with you than I am.
      🥰🥰🥰
