A Medley For Lynda

“Music cleanses the understanding; inspires it, and lifts it into a realm which it would not reach if it were left to itself.”

A few days ago, Lynda P. hinted at a couple of artists she would like to hear. Understand, Lynda is the kind of woman who has my complete respect and admiration, so how could I say no?

So if she wants a country music medley, that’s what she’s going to get because this is Thanksgiving week and I am very thankful to have her for a friend!

Lynda, Lynda, Lynda you sure have good taste,( I guess Ray get a little credit here also ). At any rate this mix is a winner. Kenny always knocks it out of the park. I have been a Vince Gill fan since his days with POCO, That’s a long time. Alan Jackson has such a way with his storytelling, so natural and true to life. I could, and have, listen to him sing all day. Toby Keith, another great storyteller. He seems to be able to describe real life in such an accurate, entertaining style. Don Williams, what can I say, I’m running out of words, he is the Perry Como of Country Music. I mean that in the best possible way. Dwight Yoakam, I think my head is going to explode! He takes Tradition, bends it to his vision and lets it flow. His performing influenced by his hero Buck Owens, is consistently outstanding. Marty Robins, a cowboy ‘s cowboy. I can see the dusty streets and open planes, horses tried to the hitching post, it’s all there. Thank you Lynda, thank you Ray you made my day.

Don, I’d say it was YOU who knocked it out of the park! What an incredible summary of this medley!
      Thank you, Bro!

Ray, what a great medley of some of the best in country!! Lynda has wonderful tastes in music!!
What a way to end it with Marty Robbins, amazing singer and racecar driver.
Feel like I am still in Thanksgiving coma this morning so will be playing again thru out the day.

Penny, thank you! It just felt like a Thanksgiving kind of day so this medley seemed to work.

Back in the 60’s and 70’s it was all Rock-n-Roll for me, but during the late 80’s and 90’s my appreciation for all kinds of music expanded. I like Country just as much as rock now…not to mention blues, reggae and even classical, Still not into Pop Rock or Punk Rock all that much.

      Thanks, Jim.
I have pretty much duplicated your path. It was originally just rock and roll for me in the 60s and 70s, but I now have a serious appreciation for country and blues, and yes classical. I rarely listen to today’s “rock”. It’s all autotuned fluff to me.

Wow! Never expected your glowing words. Made my head swell for a bit. Thanks so much for these great choices for me, and it’s nice knowing others appreciated them also. Have had a happy house full of my kids, their great spouses, and my two beloved granddaughters, so this medley and your too kind words are icing on the cake of thankfulness.. Don’s comments re Vince Gill mirrored my own feelings. Vince is a master of the guitar and exudes joy when playing. I understand he started in Rick, then blues and gospel all of which have influenced his songwriting style. Thanks again for making me feel special!

Lynda, you ARE special; to me and to so many others.
I am so pleased to know you have been surrounded by those you love this week.
You most certainly deserve it. ❤️

Oh my what a wonderful medley this is. I am probably one of the bigger country fans in the world from way back. My kids used to get so annoyed with me because that’s what I used to play in the car when they were little and we go on trips. At any rate, this was very pleasing I played it twice. Thank you Lynda for making the request. Wonderful listening!! Thanks Ray for doing this for all of us!

Thank you, Sandy. Once Christmas is over and I return to “regular” medleys, I would be happy to put a medley of your favorites together! 🥰
