50 Years Ago This Month!

“Music is a piece of art that goes in your ears then travels straight to your heart.”

November 1971 was a remarkable month for new album releases. You can find eight songs from them below. Some of them were acoustic ballads, one was a #1 funk classic, and the last three will most certainly grab your attention!

Good Morning, Ray. It never fails to amaze me how the music transports me right back to 50 years ago. The sound, the energy are all right there. The memories are there and they are vivid. It is magic for sure. Jonathan, Harry and Sly, oh Sly. Rick not Ricky Nelson. The urgent, frantic Rod Stewart. Led Zep, ripping off Spirit, it’s all here. Well you did it again Ray. Thanks for the trip back to 1971. As you well know, it has been a long, strange trip.

Good morning, Don. I had to decide whether to include a song from Billy Joel’s debut album or Sly, but since Sly’s song went to #1 (and the fact I know you really enjoy him), I went with the funky man.
November 1971 marked the beginning of a huge musical shift. of that, there was no doubt.
      ROCK ON, MY BROTHER!

Hi Susan. Thanks for the comment. I know it’s not your “type” of music but I have to spread the genres around. I think you’re a “stuck in the 50s” kind of person (and that is very much okay!). I appreciate the fact that you listened. 🙂

Not sure the Ricky Nelson or Grand Funk numbers ever resonated with me, but I could climb the Stairway to Heaven on an endless loop…love that arrangement

Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know, your stairway lies on the whispering wind?

Hi Ray! Since I’ve been gone I felt that I should go all the way back so that I wouldn’t miss any of the medleys. So I started with this one, and wow what a treat. It’s so fun to go back and be nostalgic for a while and this certainly was a trip back I loved all of your selections, they were great thank you so much! You are the best DJ anybody could ask for!
