Veterans Day

I will begin by letting you know that I am fully aware of the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
I know for example that Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle.
Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices, but it also honors all of those who have served the country in war or peace – dead or alive.

And finally … some of the songs in this medley reference the fact that not all of the brave men and women who fought valiantly for this nation – especially those who fought in Vietnam – received the gratitude of a thankful nation. It would be wrong to ignore that fact and pretend they were welcomed home as the heroes they most certainly were.

Music is the great healer and this mix makes me reflect on the sacrifices so many have made for our country. Thank you for giving so much

POWERFUL medley to honor our veteran’s! You know how personal the military “holidays” are to me and I could ramble on and on but I won’t (maybe a good thing .. huh! LOL) I am getting ready to head out to acknowledge “my veteran” and take him his favorite flowers “roses”. Have a good day my friend!

    Thank you, Penny ❤️
I do know how personal all of this is for you. “Your veteran” certainly deserves my (and a nation’s) thanks and respect. I added the Billy Joel song for Dennis. I know, with all my heart, that he is resting in peace. 🇺🇸

Very poignant medley, tears flowing. So thankful for all our veterans, especially our Viet Nam veterans, who were treated so poorly when they returned home. I love how you put these
medleys together, Ray. I had never heard the George Jones song. He had the perfect voice for the song.

      Thank you, Pat. 🥰
Our Vietnam veterans were treated so, so wrong, and I felt I had to address that with a couple of the songs.
I appreciate your very kind words.

I finally got to this one. I must confess that I pretty much cried through every song. When I think of how many soldiers sailors and just armed forces in particular gave their lives for our freedom. And I think particularly of the Vietnam vets who were just not treated very well by this country, and the protest they took place were not warranted. My heart goes out to all of those that are still defending this country on active duty, working for meager wages but expected to do tenfold the work. Thank you Ray for sharing this, Hope I’m not too far over the top here.

Too far over the top, Sandy? Not at all. Your response is exactly what I was hoping for. Veterans are the backbone of this country and they deserve far more thanks than we can ever give them. ❤
