Rock Pioneers!

There was a time when Wednesday meant it was a day for mellow music medleys – or at least softer music.
Today’s medley blows that notion out of the water. Instead of quiet and calming music, you’re going to get 11 songs from rock pioneers of the 50s!

Yes, I know that means for some of you the music is so old, it was recorded before you were born. That’s okay because each and every one of these songs is a certified rock classic. Without them, the music of the 60s might never have existed.
One more thing. Put on your dancing shoes before you hit play!

I would like to say before my time but……
This is where it all started for many of us.

      Thanks, Marty.
Those songs were absolutely where it all began. πŸ™‚
You’re right, without this music, the Sixties would have been very dull.

Oh my gosh!! I thriller minute with this, loved all the selections, and I’m so happy that I lived in grew up during this era, leading to the 60s. The music is awesome, words that you can understand, and make sense. What a great selection of songs Ray, that you have chosen for us. Just loved every minute of it! Thank you thank you

Yes, the music of the 60s had to start somewhere and that somewhere was the fabulous 50!

I’m very glad I was able to bring back a few special memories for you. As for songs flowing into one another, I work very hard on that. I appreciate someone mentioning it. πŸ₯°

What a great run of some of the greats who started it all ……… just wish rock would go back to it’s roots as I feel there is something missing in today’s music …. doesn’t have the soul like this music……..thank you for the wonderful wake up call today!!

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Penny ❀️
Today’s music is missing a lot of things but your statement (“doesn’t have the soul like this music“) says it best. Spot On!
      Rock The Day, Ms. Tennessee!

Ray, Oh boy, hard core rock n’n roll! My parents hated it and we kids loved it! First real break from our parents! They began to accept it when some of these acts appeared on Ed Sullivan!! And the show was really, really good!! Thanks , as always, for the fantastic selection and memories!! πŸ™β€οΈπŸŒˆπŸ‘πŸ”₯β€οΈπŸ˜…πŸ˜Ž Pete

      Thanks, Peter!
My father hated all of this stuff, and he wasn’t at all thrilled by the Beatles years later. My mom was a little different. She was not a fan of the 50s music but she loved the Beatles (but not as much as she enjoyed Perry Como).
Anyway, I’m very happy you enjoyed it!
