1964 All Over Again!

“The wonderful thing about music is that it immediately evokes certain eras of one’s life and brings you back to where you’ve been.”

This medley should do the trick.
While The Beatles were the biggest name during that magical year, there were several others, most of them via the British Invasion. However, the year also included bigs hit from three established American artists.
I hope a few of these songs were, at the very least, an important part of your soundtrack, and I sincerely hope a few of them bring you “back to where you’ve been.”

November is a time when we think about being thankful & I am thankful that I was born during the generation that had the best music & for friends that understand the importance of music in our lives. ๐Ÿ™‚ Have A MEMORABLE DAY ALL.

      Thank you, Lee ๐Ÿ™‚
We were (and still are) a very memorable generation. I haven’t forgotten that and neither have you. You have proven time and again that you are a walking, talking perfect representative of that generation. โค๏ธ
      Have a SUPER DAY!

Wow, look at the list of artists! How can you go wrong with a group like that? This crew made me glad I had a radio & a record player. In retrospect neither was very good, no where near what we consider High Fidelity but who cared. I was happy whenever I turned either of them on because of the wonderful sounds that came through those cheap speakers. Today, even with my blown out ears, I can hear all the sounds and little nuances that are included. Thank god for quality speakers & headphones! Well done Ray. You captured the year very well. I have no doubt that you could spend the entire week filling each day with hits from 1964. ( if you decide to ever do that I will have no problem starting my day with your selections ) Thanks again for sending me back to a wonderful time in my life.

      Thanks, Don ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m very happy you appreciated the medley. I can certainly revisit that magical year because you’re right, there were so many great songs I had to skip because who wants to listen to a 3-hour medley? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I will get to them very soon.
      ROCK ON, BROTHER!

I am replying to your question, I DO!

It would be a monster to put together but I could do it. However, I get comments about a medley being too long when I put one together that lasts 40-45 minutes. I’ll toss this one around in my head.

          1. Don Doyle

I know you can do it but donโ€™t. I can go to the archives and listen whenever I want. Please donโ€™t waste your time. Keep on giving the people what they want, 20 minutes or so of great memories.

You’re a damn good man, Mr. Doyle ๐Ÿ™‚

1964 was a very special year! My first son was born that year, and I surely do remember every single one of the songs including all the words. Although I will admit that I did shed a few tears at the last one. My dad used to sing this song. No he wasnโ€™t a singer he wasnโ€™t anybody famous but he was just my dad and that was the most special. You did it again Ray, I am so grateful to be one of the recipients of this collaboration. Outstanding with a capital L!! Thank you thank you thank you

      Thank you, Sandy โค๏ธ
Your dad may not have been famous but that’s what made that song so special for you. He wasn’t singing for the masses, he was singing it for YOU! I think that is a lovely memory and I am so glad I could bring it back for you.
I wouldn’t think of putting these medleys together and not including you. Never! โค๏ธ

      Thanks, Fred.
A very clever Four Seasons mention, my friend. ๐Ÿ™‚
Hope you are doing well down in Florida as we begin to experience 30 degree mornings up here.
ROCK ON, BRO … Love ya right back!

    Love the Zombies…that Hammond organ…underrated
Always thought You’ll Never Walk Alone was inspirational…a show tune covered by Gerry et al

      Thank you, Mary Helen. โค๏ธ
Rod Argent’s Hammond organ drove the Zombies. Argent is a musical genius.
They had a lot of fast-paced hits but You’ll Never Walk Alone was my favorite Gerry & The Pacemakers song.

What can I say .. another fabulous medley!!! so many songs including some from this medley bring back such great memories! As I have said before and still do .. music has always been the salve for my soul and helped me through so many periods of my life! And how can you go wrong with the artists on this medley, from the beach boys to Roy Orbison to the Beatles! How can you go wrong with the house of the rising sun (I hear this one a lot on several Vietnam videos) You are such a shining light for so many … thank you Ray!

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thank you, Penny โค๏ธ
1964 was such a wonderful year for music. Americans started hearing music from “the other side of pond” and we were never the same. This particular medley was filled with great music, from start to finish!
      ROCK THE DAY!

Some serious good listening right there. Makes me want to get the convertible out for a cruise but it is in the 40s today. Warmer this weekend so I am saving this one Ray.

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Marty ๐Ÿ™‚
There won’t be many (if any) convertible days up here for months … but the music is still going to hopefully keep people warm.
      Enjoy, my friend!

  8. Pat Conant

Been busy lately moving from Bristol to Lake St Catherine, so just got a few minutes to listen to this. Love this medley & hope to get to the rest that I have missed soon. Love seeing the medleys again!!

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Pat.
Take your time. The music will always be here, waiting for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Four Seasons were the very best! Loved their music still listen to it. Although there were great bands from Britain the US had it’s share of great artists who provided great hits. Always love listening …. my mind loves the 60’s and every time I listen I smile. thanks for making my day Ray. Hoping you are out there Rocking the Day!

    1. Ray (Post author)

      Thanks, Barbara.
Whether the music was from Britain, the U.S., Ireland, or Canada, the 60s was the best musical decade of my life.
      Thanks for listening!
      ROCK EVERY SINGLE DAY!
