A Time Medley

Last week, in a post commemorating the anniversary of the release date of ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, Fred Guilmette left a comment … “Where does time go?”.

Elizabeth Karlton followed that up with, “Hey, speaking of time, maybe we should list all the songs that have that word in the lyrics.”

With those two comments as the inspiration, I have compiled a list of songs with “Time” in the title. Yes, I could have added more, but since this “times out” at 46 minutes, I thought that would be long enough.

I hope you enjoy it and now it is time for me to go back on my break. 🙂

      Sir Fred…
I was hoping the message would come through for you. We all need to make the most of our time here. You have and will continue to do so, regardless of the setback. You have so much to live for and I have no doubt you will give this battle a kick in the ass!
      I love you, buddy.
      ROCK ON, BROTHER!

What a great medley over time! 🙂 When I saw the headline for this medley, I knew you couldn’t leave out Jim Croce, I haven’t heard Ray Price in quite a while, takes me way back in time, love this song! Rounding out with I’ve had the time of my life! (Dirty Dancing is one of my favorite movies) Wish I could go on and on but work is calling my name. Thank you Ray for taking time to put this together!!!!!!!

Am on my 2nd round of listening and not the last!

      Thank you, Penny ❤️
As always, I hope these “timeless tunes” help make the day go by a little faster.
I’m very happy a few of the songs were some of your personal favorites. 🙂

Ray, another nice surprise this morning. I am a bit late in my reply due to a schedule change but here I am now. I will leave the puns to Fred & Wendy as I am sure they would top any feeble attempt I would make. I will go in another direction and tell you another memory that today’s medley provoked in me. The First, (and I believe last), Philly Rock Festival was held in the old JFK Statium, (yes, the same place where Live Aid would be held years later). It was a one day affair and the line up was great. Big Brother & the Holding Co. With Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, the original with Sid Barrett,( the only real one for me!) and The Chambers Bros among others. It was a Saturday night and cloudy, the thunder storm would come later as Pink Floyd was playing, they never stopped, I thought they would be killed! The Chambers Bros played Time for about a half hour and it was transcendent! Magnificent, the crowd went crazy! I wish there was a recording of their set, but alas no. I was struck that the group was all Black except for the drummer. I guess he was an “honorary brother. I never tire of hearing that song and it is never long enough for me. Thanks for including it in the medley, although it was too short! You did it once more, started my day with some fine music and great memories. Thank you, Ray. You ROCK my Brother.

      Thanks, Don. 🙂
Wow, that is a memory for the ages!
Brian Keenan (the “white brother”) was an outstanding drummer. I did think about playing the extended version but I didn’t want to stretch the medley out to closing in on an hour.
      So glad you enjoyed it.
      ROCK ON, BROTHER!

Sooooo I listened to this early this morning … and wrote a comment about how important it was for us to realize how short our time is on this earth and to live and enjoy the wonders of the world each and every day we are given. Then somehow I went back to something else and didn’t post my comment. But I’m back to say thank you …again … and to hope you continue to rock the day for many years to come. Take care my dear friend ….

      Thank you, Barbara 🙂
Your response to the medley was exactly what I was hoping listeners would get out of it.
TIME is precious. It should not be wasted!
      ROCK THE DAY!

you have no idea how “timely” this medley was ….. see you Saturday ….

Oh my goodness this was such a great collection to listen to. What can I say about time, well when you’re young you’re invincible and you have time on your hands, and then your middle-age you appreciate time a little but you still don’t come really in touch with it until you become a little older. I appreciate time so very much, that I think the Lord every single morning for waking me up to spend one more day on this earth, and giving me the time. Time is so valuable, it enables us to spend our time watching sunsets and admiring the love shown to a loved one. It is measured more carefully. Thank you so much Ray for this great medley and for taking the time out of your schedule, to think of us and how we would enjoy this time!

Thank you, Sandy, that was beautiful! ❤️
Obviously I have reached that “little older” stage. Your assessment of it couldn’t be more right.

Okay, I will admit I didn’t listen to this before now… just not enough time in the day or pre-occupied with life in general. But after our visit today I NEEDED to hear this. AMAZING… and the message is loud and clear. Life is extremely short and the time we have in this great world is a blessing and has taught us (some earlier than others) that we need to take full advantage of life and keeping in touch with friends and loved ones. With that said!~ Bless you my dear friend! For putting our lives in a musical that entertains beyond words.

    1. Ray (Post author)

Thank you for listening, Suzanne, and thank you for taking the “time” to comment. 🙂
Our visit today at Patty’s burial was a stark reminder that life is indeed very short and every effort should be made to make every minute count.
      Time, flowing like a river
      Time, beckoning me
      Who knows when
We shall meet again, if ever
      But time keeps flowing
Like a river to the sea

Been thinking a lot these days about the passing of time & the the changes it brings. Thanks for the reminder to enjoy every moment. Thanks, too, for including “For The Good Times”. What a beautiful song, and really a great message!

Thanks, Pat. 🙂 I hope you realize I added Ray Price specifically for YOU. ❤️
